TL;DR: Try fencing like you're old, and you might improve your technique or at the very least spare your body some of the strain.

Random fencing observation: being old forces me to improve my technique. When I was young egg with functional knees and energy, I was zipping around like a dumbass and wildly overextending myself all the time. Managed to tear a growth plate in my knee, I think.

If I want to hit with power I have to have good skeletal alignment and such. If I want to go fast I have to be efficient and economical in my motions. My footwork needs to be tight if I don't want to get winded in 15 seconds.
