@ArmoredWithin “You’re right, I do love myself.” She said with a little laugh in her tone, of course she was joking. “Do you like who you are, Alex?” She was truly curious, for she liked Alex in general.
@ArmoredWithin “I mean, I used to be one.” She said with a smile. “I used to read a lot, and sometimes I’d read a book more than once. But ever since… it happened… I lost my desire to read.” She was referring to her parents’ death, of course. “Matter of fact, I feel like I changed a lot.”
@ArmoredWithin “Oh!” She said with a bright expression. “I’ve always loved the classic dragon tales. And also medieval wars, I used to love reading about wars.”
@ArmoredWithin She puffed her chest, raising a fist in the air and said “OR DIE TRYING!” in a loud, mocking tone. Then she broke out laughing, and said; “I couldn’t help myself.”
@ArmoredWithin “I wish I could help you with that.” She really did. “But the way I did it required me to be selfish, really. I’m not so sure you can stand to do that.”
@ArmoredWithin “Sheesh…” She felt bad for poor Alex, an earnest girl like her shouldn’t have so much weight on her shoulders. “I’ve been avoiding trouble as much as possible these past couple of years. I think I’ve been successful so far.”
@ArmoredWithin “Maybe.” She shrugged in return. “Well, I wouldn’t call this being curious. More like being… interested? I think that’s the best word to describe it. I always think of the word curious as a bad thing, because it kills cats all the time.” She said jokingly, with a little laugh.
@ArmoredWithin “You’re too earnest for someone who’s always on their toes.” She sighed, resting her chin on a hand. “I’m too careless to ever take the time to read anyone. Unless I get super curious— when I do, it always ends up with me asking too many questions, and I don’t like that.”
@ArmoredWithin “Ah, I see.” She sunk back into the seat, looking up at the ceiling. “Either you’re easy to read or I’m just *that* smart.” She chuckled a bit. “I don’t doubt either of those.”
@ArmoredWithin “So that’s where the ‘accident’ you were in came from, huh?” She looked at Alex with a wide, victorious grin, as if she’s just solved a big mystery. “It wasn’t that hard to figure out you were hiding something, but I’m not gonna ask what it is if you don’t wanna tell me.”
@ArmoredWithin “That’s good!” She smiled, this conversation reminding her of how she was when she first started using her super speed. “Develop it into a hobby. The more you do it and the better you get at it, the easier it’ll be to lose yourself in it, without having to think too much.”
@ArmoredWithin — if you’re not interested in running, you could always find something else to do. Usually something physical that doesn’t require much thinking would do.”
@ArmoredWithin “Well, here’s what I do. Every time I start thinking about something, or I feel like I’m about to get lost in thought, I usually get up and go run. When I run, I try to focus on my body and keeping up the pace, which distracts me from whatever I was thinking about. And uh, —
