OVERPRICED PURCHASES BY THE OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT

The Philippine Star has gotten hold of the Commission on Audit's report of Sara Duterte's Office of the Vice President, showing massive overpriced purchases over the last few years - well above fair market prices for high-end models.

This includes:

P1.484 million for CCTV cameras, over 10x market price.
- 7 x CCTV units: P212,464 EACH
- Market price: P15,000–₱P7,000
- A high-end, complete 8-camera package on the market costs: P21,000–P22,000 according to the Philippine Star.

P3.916 million for office laptops, over 3x market price of even a high-end gaming laptop
- 13 x P301,230 EACH
- Market price for top-of-the-line Alienware gaming PC between P90-130,000 each, 20-50,000 for typical DELL office laptop

P120,842 per MacBook Air laptop
- The Philippine Star confirmed that a Macbook Air can range from P50-102,000 in the market.

P73,505 per aircon unit. Four aircon units were acquired in 2024 for P294,020 total, or P73,505 each.

P1 million per multi-purpose vehicle. In 2023, the office acquired 10 units of multi-purpose vehicles valued at P10.284 million, or P1,028,400 per unit.

The OVP is saying the laptops were an accounting error and were really just "donated" photocopiers.
