I'm a citizen of Illinois that is disenfranchised by the two party system and discouraged by the lack of representation the working class has in government.
@DickDurbin Either party. It is bad enough that we have two corporations masquerading as our democratic processes, they can at least respect the choice between illusions that the voters make.
@StrikeDebt These are facts. No one takes out debt with interest if they can afford not to. That is a sunk cost and a liability, both financially and legally since it is an outstanding debt, contractual duty and can even be tied to an existing asset in some cases. No one does it.
@RepUnderwood It needs to be properly amended to protect ALL survivors, regardless of sex, gender or identity. Men are often the target of domestic violence, even cisgender, straight men.
We too often write exclusive bills. Why don't we just write bills that cover ALL Americans.
@checkmatestate Or that our economy is tanking again because our version of corporate capitalism that sends our jobs to India and China is a failure. If we bring manufacturing back it creates jobs for blue collar and white collar workers, educated and not. We need those jobs back.
@IDJoe4Congress It has rarely solved a problem, although the times it has are historically monumental successes. It has often perpetuated them and made it worse and almost always creates one in the solution's shadow. We are correct to be weary, but can't disregard it as a solution occasionally.
@IDJoe4Congress We need the diversity of thought that encompasses both of them in our country. I may disagree with them, but I welcome their attempts to make our country better in their own way. The us versus them mentality is the true enemy of progress and peace.
@RepCawthorn That's blatantly inaccurate. The true left likes guns. You're talking about Democrats who are centrists and even they don't actually want to take your guns, their rhetoric drives up gun sales and stock prices of gun manufacturers. Both parties are friends to the arms industry.
@BerriePelservrq@SenJohnThune@LeaderMcConnell@MikeCrapo Because, as I explained in other posts taking out taxes on inheritance hits poor and middle class Americans as well. We shouldn't be paying taxes on our inheritance, it isn't a commercial transaction it is taxing the same money multiple times. Rich people can avoid it, we can't.
A strong border is paramount to a strong immigration policy. In order for the US to accommodate those that need our help, we must control the means and methods of ingress. We can then process immigrants and refugees while maintaining their safety throughout the process.
A consequential rift over COVID-19 safety for migrants has persisted between the Biden administration and the state of Texas as a growing number of families attempt to cross the southern border and remain in the U.S. https://t.co/LqjDWBVdEg
@djcelts @SenJohnThune@LeaderMcConnell@MikeCrapo I'm in law school, that's what I do, because that's what they do. Politicians constantly write laws that impact us differently than they impact the billionaire class and them personally and I can usually spot that stuff.
We're likely on the same side.
@BerriePelservrq@SenJohnThune@LeaderMcConnell@MikeCrapo Its only "laughable" because you see things in red versus blue and I see each other on their merits. You don't have to agree with every single issue on one side or the other, that's why we are where we are with a perpetual duopoly that funnels money to the billionaire class.
@djcelts @SenJohnThune@LeaderMcConnell@MikeCrapo You make a 100 dollars and give it to your wife to do grocery shopping, you paying taxes on that 100 bucks as if its new income to your wife?
The #filibuster must end, along with all of the other asinine policies and procedural rules that the billionaire class has built into our democratic processes to usurp the authority of the American voter.
