Seems the Centre is misjudging the public mood right now. Why else introduce a fee on UPI and make things worse for your own standing?

Sure, running UPI costs money, no one expects it to be entirely free. But the cash-heavy system we had before cost significantly more. In reality, UPI saves the govt far more money than it takes to maintain.

Think of it like this: You used to pay ₹1,500 a month to ride a crowded bus. Then you switched to the metro, which costs only ₹800 a month. Instead of being happy that you're saving ₹700 every month and getting a better ride, you start complaining about spending ₹800. That’s exactly what’s happening here. The govt is complaining about the visible maintenance cost of UPI while completely ignoring the massive savings and value it has gained.

By shifting millions of transactions online, UPI reduced tax evasion, boosted compliance, and expanded the formal economy. It slashed cash-handling costs like printing, transport, and security, while ensuring cleaner, leak-proof welfare payouts. Its digital trail suppresses black money and fraud.

So why ruin one of the most successful systems India has ever built? The claim that merchants will absorb the cost instead of consumers is absurd. There isn't a single fee or tax levied on businesses in India that doesn't ultimately get passed down to the buyer. A 0.4% fee, even capped at ₹300 per transaction, will simply be tacked onto consumer bills, driving people right back to using cash.

An example from the past illustrating how UGC rules, if implemented, can be weaponised to settle personal vendettas:

Dr. Vaibhav Jain was a meritorious student at Indore Medical College in 2012. His MBBS classmate, Neha Verma, asked him to fill the medical entrance exam form again and sit behind her sister Pooja in the exam to tell her answers and help her pass. Vaibhav refused.

Neha got angry and retaliated by creating a fake Facebook profile in his name and uploading obscene content, then implicated him under the SC/ST Act, alleging he used casteist slurs. Vaibhav spent 50 days in jail and even took his second-year exams in handcuffs. Despite completing MBBS, the case blocked his chances of a govt job.

He fought a six-year legal battle before being acquitted. But imagine the trauma, embarrassment, struggle, and stigma he and his family endured for no fault of theirs.

UGC rules add an internal, low-threshold complaint route where allegations can trigger immediate academic or administrative action without rigorous scrutiny. Along with the SC/ST Act, this can be used to escalate pressure and settle scores faster.

14 जनवरी से अगले दस दिन तक @BJP4India ने मीडिया को फोन कर-कर के, यूजीसी पर कोई भी समाचार चलाने से मना किया। पर सोशल मीडिया के कारण, उन्हें इस पर समाचार चलाना ही पड़ा।

आज भी मोदी जी की रैली है दिल्ली में। सुबह से कीनिया में बाढ़ के सम���चार और ईरान में हो रहे हमले से ले कर इलाहाबाद का रैंडम न्यूज चलाया जा रहा है। यूजीसी पर हो रहे हाउस अरेस्ट पर कुछ नहीं।

यही न्यूज चैनल एक मजार तोड़ने पर न्यूज चला लेते हैं, पर आज ये कहाँ हैं? क्या पत्रकारों का हाउस अरेस्ट कोई न्यूज नहीं? या अनिल जी का फोन आ गया कि ये सब मत चलाओ, मोदी जी ₹35,000 करोड़ की योजनाओं का लोकार्पण करेंगे, उसकी भूमिका बाँधो?

या ये तो नहीं कहा कि रैली में दिव्यांग व्यक्ति मोदी जी की पेंटिंग ले कर आएगा तो वो जरूर दिखाना है कि मोदी जी केयर कर रहे हैं, भीड़ में पहचान रहे हैं? अब ये स्क्रीनशॉट अनिल जी को मत भेज देना कि देखिए क्या-क्या लिख रहा है ये!

मेरा यूट्यूब के गैरवामपंथी चैनलों से आग्रह है कि सोशल मीडिया से वीडियो क्लिप लीजिए, और अपने-अपने शो में इस पर बोलिए कि सरकार को शांतिपूर्व��� प्रदर्शन करते सवर्ण पसंद नहीं।

सवर्णों का केवल टैक्स चाहिए ताकि दलितों के फ्री कोचिंग, हॉस्टल, फी माफी फायनेंस हो सके। सवर्णों का केवल वोट चाहिए और बाकी समय सवर्णों को @narendramodi जी के गार्डन में तैयार बाँस मिलता रहेगा।

मेनस्ट्रीम मीडिया के पत्रकारों को कुछ घंटे बाद ये समाचार चलाना ही पड़ेगा। हम चलवाएँगे।

और हाँ भाजपा समर्थक मित्रों से, जो कहते थे नंबर एक और दो को छोड़ कर चलो, एक प्रश्न है: अब मैं क्या करूँ? क्या मैं संवैधानिक अधिकार मोदी की झोली में डाल दूँ?

सवर्ण एकता जिंदाबाद! फट्टू मोदी सरकार मुर्दाबाद!

तो भीजपा प्रशासन ने कल के होने वाले आंदोलन के आह्वान करने व���ले हर व्यक्ति को हाउस अरेस्ट करना चालू कर दिया है। स्वामी आनंद स्वरूप के साथ सर्वेश पांडेय को प्रशासन ने दिल्ली जाने से रोका है।

यति जी और उदिता त्यागी जी पर तो पहले से ही पुलिस मेहरबान रही है। मेरे घर तक तो अभी तक ऐसी कोई व्यवस्था नहीं की गई है, पर हो ही जाए तो कोई बड़ी बात नहीं होगी।

मेरा हर सवर्ण से आग्रह है कि आप यदि आ सकते हो तो केवल भीड़ बन कर ही जंतर मंतर या रामलीला मैदान आप पहुँच जाओ। मंच नहीं होगा, न सही। बोलने नहीं देंगे, न सही। हम वहाँ दिखेंगे जरूर।

और ह��ँ, फिर इस दिन को याद रखना कि @BJP4India और @narendramodi ने मुल्लों के CAA आंदोलन को सौ दिन चलने दिया था, दिल्ली दंगे होने के बाद भी नहीं हटा पाए थे।

याद रखना कि मोदी ने वर्ष भर किसान आंदोलन के नाम पर पूरी दिल्ली को बंधक बनाने वाले खालिस्तानियों को ये सहते रहे थे और बाद में रीढ़ झुका कर ‘तपस्या में कमी’ वाला ज्ञान दिया था।

पर सामान्य वर्ग को शांतिपूर्ण प्रदर्शन का अधिकार भी नहीं? आप हमें पहुँचने तक नहीं दोगे? आगे क्या? @DelhiPolice से कल लाठीचार्ज होगा? ठीक है, ये भी देख लेते हैं।

If a dalit neighbour has a personal dispute with you, all it takes is a complaint alleging that you used a caste-based slur to fix you.

There is no requirement for a preliminary inquiry. The police can register the case and arrest you immediately, after which you are produced before a court and only then allowed to apply for bail.

Even if there is no evidence and the case eventually collapses, the damage is already done. You may be arrested from your home, face social stigma, cause severe trauma to your family, risk job loss, spend days in custody, pay legal fees, and deal with endless procedural hardships, sometimes even bail becomes uncertain, depending on the court’s discretion (read bribe).

In such situations, acquittal does not undo the punishment. The punishment lies in the process itself. A man in UP stayed more than two decades in jail for a false compliant.

This is the power the Atrocities Act carries in its present form. A law that offers no effective safeguards against misuse is an atrocity itself against the innocent. This is not an ideological argument, it is simple logic. Yet no one is willing to address it openly, because in a democracy, questioning such laws is politically dangerous.

And it could have ended there. But now, a miniature version of the same approach has entered universities through the UGC equity regulations, extending the same logic into academic spaces.
