Hard agree. Star Wars is for kids and it’s a bonus if adults enjoy it. My grandsons loved the film and I loved that they enjoyed it so much. This is the way.
Saw Mandalorian & Grogu with my son.
Most of the criticism are valid, but I enjoyed in nonetheless.
The old fashioned stop-motion animation was awesome.
And my son LOVED it - which might be the point.
@WheezingPod The one where everything changed and it all started going a bit wrong. But surprisingly good fun, once you get past the Doctor snoring through the interminable opening scene. And the new version of the theme tune grew on me, eventually. 40 out of 100 ‘Did someone say Foamasi?’
@WheezingPod The first Doctor Who story to be utter bobbins and almost unwatchable. What a claim to fame! 5 out of 100 Voord tripping over his own flippers.

Wow - absolutely brilliant piece on the forgetting of lockdown. ‘This is not mere absence but active amnesia. The war, which ended six decades before I was born, was forced into every corner of my schooling. But the pandemic, which happened yesterday, is already consigned to the same memory black hole as Swampy, Cat Bin Lady and freakshakes.’
Also helps old people like me to understand why the young people are so bizarrely obsessed by N*zis. (Which we never were, despite them being much more recent to us)

Blimey, BBC Four, what have we done to deserve this? Next Wednesday 30 July, the late evening schedule is devoted to THREADS and THE WAR GAME, two of the most horrifying and bleakly depressing films ever made. There will be documentaries, too. Get the snacks in!
I suppose the questions is, would Doctor Who fans be willing to accept an American, even a hardcore anglophile with a UK visa, for such an inherently British series, given Babylon 5 and Sense8 and the like? Would I be worthy?
