Our many thanks to our Smithsonian colleagues for collaborating on this latest DSL publication! "Developing responsible AI practices at the Smithsonian Institution"
Our fearless colleague @rdikow is moving on. She leaves behind some very big shoes to fill! We are sad to see her leave and @yalelibrary is lucky to have her leadership. But don't sleep on our lab! Many exciting projects on the horizon. Rebecca is leaving us in fighting shape.
Today is my last day in my position at the Smithsonian Institution @SIDataScience. I am endlessly grateful for the brilliance and care of the colleagues with whom I have worked. 1/3

So proud of all the great work they have done this summer. Sadly, we don’t have a group photo because all our interns are remote but we hope to welcome everyone to visit us in DC soon!
Really excited our interns had the chance to present their projects to the @smithsonian CIO and Director of Research Computing today! Here is some of what they have worked on:
Matt Bollinger, grad student at Georgia Tech, is piloting the use of AI methods to generate alt-text for @smithsonian collections images. Mike Trizna, @SIDataScience Data Scientist, is his mentor.
