The brutal assault on Advocate Samim Ahammed, newly elected Member of the Bar Council of West Bengal, near Salboni PS is deeply disturbing!

I am shocked to learn that he was even pressured to alter his complaint. Following the intervention of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Samim returned home safely.

The recent attacks on advocates at Bankshall Court and Baruipur Court are equally unacceptable.

West Bengal cannot permit a culture of intimidation and JUNGLE RAJ to prevail. The rule of law must prevail over political violence. Every advocate, irrespective of political affiliation or ideology, must be able to discharge their professional duties without fear.

I strongly condemn such repeated atrocities by hooligans of BJP and urge the Administration to ensure the safety and security of advocates and take firm, impartial action against those responsible.

@SuvenduWB, while seated in a government office, has brazenly THREATENED me, publicly declaring that he will ensure I cannot even leave my home.

I call upon the Hon’ble President of India, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, and the people of India: Is this the India envisioned by our Constitution?

A sitting Chief Minister, sworn to uphold that very Constitution, openly threatens to curtail the freedom of the Chairperson of the principal opposition party, @AITCofficial.

The words were unambiguous: “I will ensure you cannot leave the house.”

What exactly does that mean? House arrest? Intimidation? Political persecution? Who gave you the authority to decide who gets to move freely in a constitutional democracy?

Perhaps he is confusing me with those known to bow before authoritarianism. That, I must say, is a grave misreading.

This is bigger than Mamata Banerjee. This is about the kind of India @BJP4India wants to create - where political opponents are threatened, dissent is punished, and constitutional rights become privileges granted by those in power.

IYC Demands Justice for Abdul Mafeek, Murdered by BJP goons because his son exposed the condition of a local school

Abdul Hafeez, a 25-year-old youth, visited his government school in Bankura, West Bengal, to show its shocking condition. Within minutes, BJP goons attacked his home on 13 August. His father, Abdul Mafeek, was critically injured and died in hospital on 15 August.

For two days, BJP goons prevented the family from meeting anyone or leaving Bankura to seek better treatment. When his condition worsened, the family moved him to Bardhaman on 15 August.

Indian Youth Congress Team is on the ground with Hafeez and his family, extending all legal and other assistance. We will stand with them and will not allow those responsible to escape.

We have received a copy of the FIR just now. All those responsible must be immediately arrested.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari must speak up and stop ordering the murder of Indian youth through their party cadres.

We demand that all those responsible be arrested and prosecuted immediately.

IYC will not leave until justice is ensured.

Indian youth will not bow down to BJP’s politics of violence.
