When one young Chicago trader first heard people were making $50,000 to $100,000 in a day
He told himself he would quit the moment he ever made that kind of money.
Then he had his first five-figure day.
He was back in the pit the next morning.
“After a while, the money becomes just a way of keeping score.”
By the late 1980s, a seat on the exchange could cost more than $300,000, and the trading floors were said to hold more millionaires per square inch than anywhere else on earth.
But the footage shows what that money did to people.
Traders carried live quote machines on dates, practiced screaming so they could be heard above the crowd, wore the same clothes after winning days, and came back even after they had already made enough to leave.
The technology looks ancient now.
The psychology does not.
This rare documentary captures the exact moment trading stops being about money and turns into identity, competition, and addiction to the game.

Especially now that markets are once again rewarding speed, hype, and risk-taking.
@System43x@sammy_capital Thank you. I produced this show back in the 80’s for ABC in Chicago. You can see the whole show on YouTube. With the old commercials. Someone must have recorded it back then. Here’s the link. https://t.co/xxy67rcICc
JUST IN: @nyuniversity@nyulaw appears to have a terror sympathizer problem on campus. NYU LAW Student Bar Association President Ryna Workman sent out this statement in which she praised the Palestinians following their attacks on Jews in Israel. She said she doesn’t condemn the “Palestinian Resistance” and went on to blame the Israelis for the violent attacks they endured at the hands of terrorists.
NYU has one of the largest student Jewish populations of all universities in America. All of their donors should be made aware of how they are emboldening giving admission to Islamic terrorist sympathizers.
A HAMAS supporter is the head of their Student Bar Association. This is disgusting.
Why is @nyulaw allowing for the head of their STUDENT BAR ASSOCIATION to support Islamic terrorists?
She should be expelled from the law school for this.
Please call NYU Law and ask to speak to the Deans office. When you call, press 4 to be connected to the Dean. Ask them why NYU Law is supporting Islamic terrorism by enrolling a Hamas sympathizer.

The news coming out of the United States is horrific. My heart goes out to the millions of American women who are now set to lose their legal right to an abortion. I can’t imagine the fear and anger you are feeling right now.
