This isn’t a thing by the way. As long as you can draw somewhat, skill level only determines how long it’ll take to get the idea right, not the actual ability to execute. A recent realization
Most art "talent" is just 10k+ hours of ugly warmup doodles and practice sheets that nobody sees, but potentially artistic individuals would rather doompost "i'm just not creative", "oh I wish I could draw", and doomscroll instead of sitting down for 30 minutes a day and accepting their sketchbook will look and feel like a crime scene for the first two-three years (event less for those who are determined).
No one's born with talent, an affinity maybe. But that affinity does nothing if you don't train it.
Guys, at hitting 14k I don’t have anything special to give you, these milestones are coming too fast to keep up, and I just wanna say thank you all for the support. From commissions alone, I’m rapidly approaching a point where I could realistically quit my day job and be an artist full time, and I have so many ideas on how I want to expand.
A few weeks ago I was at a point in my life where I had more or less accepted that art would remain for me just a hobby, something that would fade more and more into the background as I progressed in my “fall back” career, that I wasn’t good enough to do this full time anyway, and while not enough time has passed to prove that this is sustainable, it has shown me that I can start to dream of a future that doesn’t take place on a construction site. I mean hell, I’m having to pay taxes on my commission profits now, I have SPREADSHEETS guys!
I know that for you reading this, I’m just the guy who draws stuff for you to wank off to, and that’s fine, that’s who I want to be. I just want to let you all know how much every little bit of support means to me.
I need to go now, I can’t be getting emotional on a construction site haha, but thank you all for everything.
