Sometimes we don’t pursue the things that would make us happiest because of fear. We don’t write the book, because we're afraid it won’t be good or that nobody will read it. Write the book.
Trying even if it means failing, is saying yes to life, yes to our dreams, and no to fear
Forget about perfect! Perfect is a huge, life sucking illusion. There is no perfect place to get to, no perfect way of looking, no perfect friendship, no perfect performance.
I love that so many women are standing up and reclaiming their place as leaders, sages and mentors as they age. We are not going away, we are coming fully into our power.
I have so many American friends and I treasure these relationships. It's painful we're being led so far away from one another. We need our allies to speak out and we need to stand up to anyone who seeks to diminish our shared history, respect, healthy competition and cooperation.
You don’t need to have felt depression to help someone who is experiencing depression. You do need to know how to listen, even when listening means simply sitting in a room with them. Everyone needs to feel loved and seen.
Learning from failure is a big part of success. I loved my conversation with @colinmochrie on Inflection Time. Get the whole episode wherever you get your podcasts.
We don't need to be afraid of aging. We can reinvent ourselves. We can re-engage ourselves with purpose. We don't need to be forced onto the path that society decides for us. We can age on our own terms when it comes to purpose and relevancy.
Get out of your own way. Have you heard this before? A beautiful aspect of aging is learning to identify when an effort is not going to yield the desired results. It's liberating to walk away sometimes and preserve your peace and energy.
I have done a lot of pushing uphill in my life, not just with oars in my hands, but with projects and people.
Lately I have taken a little bit longer to assess if my efforts are going to yield results. If the answer is probably not, I drop it. No more uphill pushing.
You can feel your feelings, be so terrified you can hardly swallow, and still go out there and kick ass.
Don't wait until you feel "ready" to do something big. Feel the fear and the uncertainty and do it anyway.
.@madisontevlin is a person every human being can benefit from meeting. Her optimism, strength and relentlessness are unmatched. Madison has downs syndrome, but in her words “ this is the least interesting thing about me.”

Growth is painful. The human experience is not meant to be pleasant all the time. The chapters of our lives are meant to be written by us in spite of how hard they can be.
