The voice of IT has always been to protect organizations from poor decisions. Our skill is not coding. It *is* rational thought.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

IT has always been the dumping ground for "what if?"
It has also always been the librarian context for "how does our system work?"

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

Thinking is why #SDLC professionals react so hard to their employers. We have always been the voice of repercussions.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

Speed does not mean quality. First often means means crap. The lost art is thinking. THINKING is hard. That's why it pays so well.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

Those now with long-term thinking have outpaced American instant-gratification. Reducing time as a metric will make the US redundant.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

Classic American business patterns (post WWII) seek instant gratification. Quick trumps quality. #demming #sdlc

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

Small batch sizes are for business as usual - "busy work."
Innovation can take years. (e.g. Amazon) #agile promotes short-termism.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

There is no 1-800-DO NOT DIG for software. Can't be done up-front. 90% "research" = 90% of the job. Cables/lines replaced daily. "Soft"ware.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

Developers - compare yourselves to chefs, authors, musicians, brewmasters, composers, bakers,. Never Production line workers.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

This shite of "overcoming objections" is a lack of originality + wrong market. Choose and engage your early adopters. Use #sociology

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

American business prefers Production Line thinking. It's easy. Linear. Mindless. "Set-it-and-forget-it." The Wrong model for #SDLC

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

Systems Thinking keeps businesses afloat and promotes innovation. Production Line (siloed) thinking prescribes a corporation to demise.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

The new #SDLC capitol of the world is yet to be defined. It won't be Silicon Valley. It will be a commodity. Our field has become such.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

My field promotes linear accumulation of code over time as productivity. Productivity = value. #1901.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

What gets coded is political and subject to regular corporate cultural intent. #SDLC is NOT separate from that process. Process = people.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

So now we have a very simple link between SDLC and psychology.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

Interestingly, from a UI perspective, "cover" material fades quickly v. engine. The 90%. Data v. image = data. Is #SDLC data or image?

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

First to market doesn't always win. Measure ease of use = laziness wins. #sociologiy and #psychology. #Ideation doesn't trump execution

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

No marketing org is capable of ID'ing innovation. They only ID holes - not solutions. That responsibility falls to Entrepreneurial risk.

[SilverFernSoft @SilverFernSoft]

And this shit: this is what we did before OO programing and lies about abstraction. Part 2.
