“gloom and despondency have never defeated adversity. Trying times need courage and resilience. Our strength as a people is not tested during the best of times...we should never become despondent because the weather is bad nor should we turn triumphalist because the sun shines”.
Jacinta, despite my output being about the SABC's editorial architecture, you insist that I am focused on you - all because I responded to Lupi and addressed the main point of his post - editorial principles. Nonetheless, since you have asked let me indulge you because this is the editorial and narrative advisory work that I do and can deliver it in my sleep. I give you the grace and benefit of the doubt that your inquiry about verification is sincere. So here is the lesson:
Verification happens before amplification, not after an inflammatory allegation has been published to hundreds of thousands of people.
1) The number from which this message came is your first lead; it is not evidence. Call the sender. Ask probing questions: First, who is the sender and what is his/her interests in the matter? Why did the sender come to you and not the police, church, etc. Who was allegedly killed? When and where? Was a case opened? What is the case number? Which police station investigated it? How was the alleged perpetrator’s nationality established?
2) Ask who else witnessed these events and speak to those people independently. Those are your SECONDARY sources. Research the community, examine the available crime data and GO THERE with credible witnesses to see for yourself. Speak separately to residents, community leaders, the police and, where possible, the affected family. Do not simply gather people who will confirm what you already believe.
3) And a sincere caution: given your reach and ambitions, you must understand that not everyone who contacts you will tell you the truth. Some will tell you what they think you want to hear. Others may deliberately craft messages calculated to trigger your platform. Others may want to trap you. Anyone with a public profile can be manipulated or set up. Vigilance and verification protect the public, but they also protect YOU. This is not something to be playful or sarcastic about. The best way to insulate yourself is to arm yourself with the truth. That's why NOBODY can bring me down. Oh they can insult me but nothing they say is true precisely because I SEEK the truth. You need to make the truth and verified facts, with evidence, your friend. Not anonymous messages or unattributable posts.
4) If your movement is serious, ask its funders to invest in competent researchers and fact-checkers. WhatsApp messages are neither investigations nor proof - particularly when they make grave claims about an entire category of people.
5) Establish a relationship with accredited, APOLITICAL research institutions with a long history of data output that has been quoted internationally and is trusted by formidable organizations. Institutions that have won awards or other accolades for their work. Have a professional and respectful relationship with them.
6) NOBODY knows everything. Have a list of respected, high achieving and respected professionals AND community workers to be your sounding board. Just like some have spiritual leaders or financial advisers, have a cohort of people with whom yiu can be vulnerable. You don't have to always listen to them. But they are there as a sounding board..they are there to say "Wait, breathe, reflect."
Conclusion: This level of editorial and strategic advice would ordinarily arrive with a report, list of contacts and a R200,000 invoice from me. Today, consider it a public-service contribution from me. You are also welcome to enrol in one of my modules on editorial integrity. I teach this stuff and advise institutions on it. It is good to volunteer it to you.
I have indulged this sufficiently. I must return to work and an early morning run.
Being in your early 40s is weird, man. People around your age are in every stage of life. You have people who are grandparents. You have people who have newborns. You have people dating 25-year-olds. You have people celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. Some of them look 60, and some of them look 30. All the bases are covered when you are in your early 40s.
@RSASIU It's a known FACT that you people haven't arrested him...WHY.
All these other explanations we hear them.
Question remains why is he not arrested whiles in other similar case the suspects are arrested prior to taking such action.
There's a church my wife and I are contemplating on starting in the next few months or so,and the first order of programmes will be to confere honorary doctorates to deserving, upstanding membersof our society. You, @RamsByTheHorn and @Enghumbhini are high on that list. Iyeza, Doc
President Mbeki has a tendency of addressing me as Dr. Lupi . This morning at a client status meeting (an institution of higher learning), on the minutes of the previous meeting my name was recorded as Dr. Lupi Ngcayisa.
I need a church to moer me with an Honoris Causa. Kushube once. If Mamkhize can did it, surely nam with my four post matric qualifications I can did it.
What say you bahlali? Will you help me find a church or can you recommend and put forth my noble name to a church or any institution where people get le shandisi. Kuya phuthuma.
If Chiefs win all 9 games and Pirates draw 5 games, Sundowns lose 8 games then Pirates draw with Stellies, and Chippa beat Sundowns 7-0 Chiefs will take league 😌😌😌

On an unrelated, but relevant matter, Comrade Khusela. Are political statements part of the terms of reference? Some of the "questions /statements" from committee members (Mazolman, in particular) to Ad Hoffman etc al, hhai khona. #AdHocCommittee

Life’s greatest irony is this:
By the time you stop chasing, things start arriving.
You attract when you’re no longer desperate.
You receive when you’re no longer lacking.
So breathe. Relax. Trust your becoming.
What’s meant for you knows where to find you.
Kallie, stop lying to the country.
No one is intimidating you. No one is threatening your safety. What you are experiencing is pushback, and you’re not used to it because AfriForum has operated for years without being seriously challenged.
You cry “human rights” the moment your narrative is questioned, yet you have no problem endangering South Africa by running to foreign governments, spreading panic, and portraying the country as a failed, racist state. That is not activism , that is sabotage.
Your Zimbabwe fear-mongering is tired, dishonest, and insulting. South Africa is not Zimbabwe, and repeating that lie does not make it true. You deliberately ignore history, inequality, land dispossession, and the constitutional process because fear is the only political currency AfriForum has left.
You talk about democracy while actively undermining elected institutions. You talk about human rights while defending racial privilege disguised as “culture.” You talk about loyalty to the country while doing everything possible to damage its reputation and invite foreign pressure.
The BELA Act does not threaten Afrikaans ,it threatens exclusive control. Afrikaans schools are not being destroyed; they are being asked to exist within a democratic, inclusive system. Afrikaans will survive. What won’t survive is the idea that one group gets to freeze transformation forever.
And stop weaponising the “Kill the Boer” chant. Courts have ruled on this matter. You ignore those rulings because you need Afrikaners to feel under siege. Fear keeps your donations flowing. Fear keeps you relevant.
You are not a victim.
You are not brave.
You are not defending democracy.
You are running a calculated political project built on distortion, racial anxiety, and international lobbying against your own country ,and when that project is exposed, you scream intimidation.
South Africans are no longer fooled.
Criticism is not persecution.
Accountability is not violence.
And AfriForum will not silence the country by playing victim forever.
I am looking for a quiet place, not too crowded and preferably at the beach. An all inclusive type resort. I'm prepared to spend about R80 000 to R100 000 on accommodation and travel to enjoy the end of the year in peace with my family. Do you know where I can get the money from?
I wouldn't be surprised if MKP goes to court, demanding the interim report be made public. Phela, something is amiss at Nkandlaville @ThabisoTema#POWERBreakfast

@SABC_Sport@Velile_Mnyandu his reluctance to apologise at first makes us question whether this is sincere 😒…we focus ahead now but we will be on a look out for any victimisation towards our boy amidst this quagmire
Since some among us have no concept of boundaries and possess the emotional intelligence of teething toddlers, please note the following Community Service Announcement. Here is what you are not going to do or ask:
1. Children’s Exam Results
You will not ask how other people’s children performed in their exams. Their academic report is not community property.
2. Body Comments
You will not comment on weight gain or weight loss. “You look good” is more than sufficient. If your tongue is itching to say more, drink water and face the wall.
3. Skin Conditions
You will not comment on someone’s skin if it’s going through the most. Breakouts are not an invitation for your analysis. You are not a dermatologist.
4. Missing Partners
You will not ask where husbands, wives, boyfriends, or girlfriends are if you don’t see them. Assume they are deceased and you missed the funeral notice. It is safer for everyone involved.
PS. Let us practise the ancient art of being decent, mature human beings. It starts by minding your own business
