- Governors of the Central Bank of ʿIrāq, Dr. ʿAbd al-Ḥasan Zalzalah and Ṭāriq al-Takmah Ji, were Shīʾah

- Director of Public Security in ʿIrāq, Nāẓim Kazzār, was Shīʾah

- The top official responsible for investigating crimes by members of the Daʾwah Party, who set off bombs inside ʿIrāq during the 1980s and 1990s, Security Colonel ʿAlī al-Khaqani, was a Shīʾī from al-Najaf

- The Presidency of the Revolutionary Court, specially formed to deal with cases of conspiracy, by Hādī ʿAlī Watut and Muslim al-Jabburi, were both Shīʾah

- Both Prime Ministers of ʿIrāq, Dr. Saʾdūn Ḥammādī and Muḥammad Ḥamzah al-Zubaydi, were Shīʾah

- The speaker of the National Assembly, was also the Shīʾī Dr. Saʾdūn Ḥammādī

- The National Oil Company, which was responsible for the extraction and export of ʿIrāqī oil, was headed by four individuals who held the post for the longest time: ʿAbd al-Amīr al-Anbari, ʿIṣām al-Chalābī (the cousin of Aḥmad Chalābī), Fadil al-Chalābī (another cousin of Aḥmad Chalābī), and Ramzī Salmān. All of them were Shīʾah

- More than 60 percent of the General Directors of state companies in the military industries were Shīʾah

- More than 70 percent of the advanced engineering and technical cadres in the military industries were Shīʾah

- The person who held the post of Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization in Iraq for the longest period was a Shīʾī, Dr. ʿAbd al-Razzāq al-Hāshimī

- The Deputy Chairman of the Military Industrial Board for Technical Affairs, Dr. Nizār al-Qusayr, was Shīʾah

- More than 60 percent of both the General Directors in the Iraqi state sector and their technical and scientific cadres who held high official posts and positions in that sector were Shīʾah

- More than 60 percent of Baʾth Party members were Shīʾah.

- The middle-ranking cadres in the Baʾth Party were more than 70 percent Shīʾah

- During the Irān-ʿIrāq War, the Commander of ʿIrāqī Artillery was Staff Major General Ḥāmid al-Ward, a Shīʾī

- The Commander of the Armored Forces was Staff Major General Sabih ʿUmran al-Tarafah, a Shīʾī

- The General Secretary of the Ministry of Defense—that is, the number two man in the ministry after the Minister of Defense himself—was Staff Major General Saʾd al-Mālikī, a Shīʾī

- Then later there was Staff Major General Jiyad al-Imarah, a Shīʾī

- The Commander of the Third Division, Lieutenant General Saʾdī Tuʾmah al-Jabburi, was a Shīʾī

The Director of Administration of Political Guidance was ʿAbd al-Jabbar Muhsin al-Lami, a Shīʾī

- This is to say nothing of the large number of brigade generals, sectional commanders, army officers, and military advisers who were Shīʾah

- The last editor-in-chief of the Baʾth Party's official newspaper, al-Thawrah, was Sāmī Mahdī, a Shīʾī of Iranian descent

The Information Adviser President Ṣaddām Hussein was ʿAbd al-Jabbar Muhsin, a Shīʾī

The main adviser to President Saddam Hussein for Baʾth Party affairs was Muhsin Radi Salmān, a Shīʾī
