@BWH_NHS NICU team refreshed our skills using the defib in a multidisciplinary scenario today with a case of refractory SVT. Are you confident using yours? Great learning for the team AND the faculty #practisemakespatientssafer
Today working with the excellent Abbi Nash from @Bham_Childrens @PICU_BCH education team we ran a ward based scenario. Focusing on recognition of the sick patient, escalation of concerns and getting the simple things right. We hope to make this a regular feature for ward staff.
The turn of team neonates today. Simulation of a special care baby with sepsis for a team of new doctors and New nurses to the unit. Teasing out the known unknowns and unknown unknowns like โwhere does this piece of equipment liveโ @BWH_NHS@BWC_NHS#practisemakespatientssafer
Thank you Arun for coming in to run a PICU #simulation scenario where we discussed the considerations of a patient with potential pulmonary hypertensive crisis and how to challenge when you donโt feel comfortable #PACE @PICU_BCH @Bham_Childrens
Great shared learning about seizure management with the H@N junior doctors and ANNPs @Bham_Childrens today running through a status epilepticus scenario ๐
Sammy is feeling a bit peaky again... fortunately @Bham_Childrens @PICU_BCH team were there to make him better #practisemakespatientssafer. Nomination sent to The Oscars for Mike Newton and his amateur dramatics as a worried mother.
Todayโs simulation was the turn of the Womenโs Hospital @BWH_NHS. Great team work by the birth centre midwifery team and the neonatal team in resuscitating a baby on the birth centre. Useful to practise in a less familiar environment #practisemakespatientssafer.
Another life saved! Slick work from the @Bham_Childrens ED and trauma team in the transfer of a patient with traumatic brain injury to CT. #practisemakespatientssafer@SimBCH. Thank you to everyone for getting stuck in ๐
PICU team teaching on Monday @Bham_Childrens using simulation to think about team work and logistics of a difficult intubation when youโre in a ward setting. Important to consider before experiencing in reality #paedsim
