You can sit and cry about it and affirm her victimhood with pity or you can use it as a teaching moment, enpowering her with social skills that will aid her a lifetime

If her mother were using that occasion to point out why they were rejecting her kid and how her behavior was contributing to the rejection, she would actually be helping her kid out
