🖤💛❤️
On Monday, my co-author Dr Cathie Burgess and I had the privilege of hosting our Leadership in Aboriginal Education professional learning day at the @australianmuseum
We were joined by leaders and passionate educators from across the nation. From Directors and Principals to Aboriginal Education Officers, all committed to leading Aboriginal Education with courage, truth, and heart. The Leader in All of Us! 🫶🏽
Together, we unpacked our ‘why’, explored research, best practice leadership and dreamed of the future we all hope to see for our nation. The conversations, reflections, and shared commitments were powerful.
A heartfelt thank you to our friends at the Australian Museum for your partnership and to Hayley and Sally for the incredible First Nations Gallery tour.
Here’s a glimpse of the feedback from participants:
“It was so inspirational and has lit a fire in me to be courageous and do more.”
“The balance between collaboration and explicit instruction was perfect.”
“Kylie and Cathie remind us of the ‘why’ and give context to what we need to do as educators.”
“I’m feeling empowered and supported to continue the journey with my school and community.”
It was a day filled with energy, excellence, and purpose, and a reminder that our future is in good hands with so many deadly educators leading the way.
If you’d like to be part of the next one, keep an eye out for our 2026 dates or send me a message to join the waitlist.

This year’s theme reminds us of the importance of Indigenous voices in decision-making and leadership. When Indigenous knowledge systems are valued, respected, and embedded, everyone benefits.
