A major new campaign has been launched by the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner @SimonFosterPCC and Victims’ Advocate, Natalie Queiroz to ensure more people know their rights as a victim of crime.

The campaign follows a region-wide awareness survey which found that, despite the Victims Code having been around for over 20 years, just 2.5 per cent of almost 1,000 people spoken to across the West Midlands were able to demonstrate any knowledge of the Victims’ Code – highlighting a significant gap in public awareness.

Throughout September and into early October, eye-catching digital adverts carrying the message ‘Victim? Don’t lose sight of your rights’ will appear on mobile phones, digital billboards and inside buses and trains across the West Midlands.

Many of the adverts feature a QR code linking directly to the OPCC’s dedicated Victims’ Code webpage, making it easier than ever for people to understand the rights they are entitled to.

The campaign is also being strengthened through the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Victims’ Code Innovation Fund, which is supporting voluntary and community organisations to raise awareness of victims’ rights among communities that can often face additional barriers to accessing information and support.

Thousands of people descended on Tally Ho! for an annual fun day.

The West Midlands Association of Muslim Police staged the event, which saw the community turn out in force.

They were joined by PCC @SimonFosterPCC who got into the swing of things, even trying out some classic cars for size!!
