@xuyiqing Used to be my fav question at Stanford empirical talks involving panel data: we’d often be a long way down the road before we were got an answer to “how much of the variation in y is within, how much between…”. Duration of runs for discrete y, etc. Nice!
ok, but put me in the "conservative drift/maturation over the life-course is a real thing...just muted in #auspol ATM" school, at least wrt net flow to Coalition parties see https://t.co/TeK4RDHbMo
Academic publishing isn't always the fastest game in town, but pleased to see this out and freely available! How did Labor win the 2025 election? https://t.co/GmfZxeDvHU via @LinkedIn#auspol
@gtconway3d Tend to agree, but perhaps it’s also a tactical issue: need Iran to run down missiles, drones (or US destroys them) before “safe enough”for escort/mine clearing ops. Drones - quality/quantum - new factor in the Calculus cf previous missions to secure SoH.
@KhoaVuUmn@insteconomics Magic words about T going to infinity or N going to infinity making the same numbers in a table of regression results “good”. Econometric version of transubstantiation…
@heystak_ Looks a serious incident on St Neot Ave, at least one person being treated on scene. A K-9 unit just deployed to a premises down the far western end of the street. Lots of detectives attending as well. #pottspoint#sydney
@mumbletwits Even supposing ONP stays at low 20s nationally in a fed election, damned if we know much - from the extant polling - about seat by seat story It’s wonderfully tempting to compute a ALP ONP 2PP number but how that maps to anything predictive about composition of next parli? Meh
Usman's last dismissal #Ashes#UsmanKhawaja happened to be field level, square on, and caught the moment... bail is flying, above the ball, right of frame
