PRESIDENT SAMIA AND PRESIDENT NANDI-NDAITWAH WITNESS SIGNING OF FOUR COOPERATION AGREEMENTS
The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, and the President of the Republic of Namibia, H.E. Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, have witnessed the signing of four cooperation agreements between the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Namibia, a move expected to further strengthen the historic relations between the two countries and open new avenues for development.
The agreements were signed at the State House in Dar es Salaam following official bilateral talks between the two leaders aimed at enhancing economic and social cooperation. The agreements cover cooperation in defence matters, collaboration between the Zanzibar Municipal Council and the City of Swakopmund, cooperation in trade development, and partnership in the promotion and development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Speaking after the ceremony, President Samia said the agreements reflect the strong commitment of Tanzania and Namibia to deepen their longstanding relationship and transform it into a partnership that delivers greater economic and social benefits to their peoples.
She noted that the cooperation frameworks would contribute to increased trade and investment, facilitate the exchange of expertise and best practices, and promote the welfare and prosperity of citizens in both countries.
For her part, President Nandi-Ndaitwah described the agreements as a testament to the growing strategic partnership between Tanzania and Namibia, founded on solidarity, friendship, and a shared history of Africa’s liberation struggles. She emphasized that their implementation would create new opportunities for economic growth, private sector development, and stronger collaboration between public institutions.
The signing of the agreements is regarded as a significant step in the efforts of Tanzania and Namibia to transform their historic friendship into a partnership that delivers tangible benefits to their citizens. It also reflects the determination of both leaders to strengthen cooperation across various sectors in pursuit of sustainable development, job creation, expanded trade, and shared prosperity.

TANZANIA AND SWEDEN STRENGTHEN COOPERATION IN TRADE, ENERGY, AND DEVELOPMENT
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), held talks with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, Hon. Maria Malmer Stenergard, on the sidelines of the 22nd Africa–Nordic Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, on 2–3 October 2025.
The discussions focused on enhancing the long-standing partnership between Tanzania and Sweden in the areas of politics, economy, energy, and human development.
Minister Kombo expressed Tanzania’s appreciation for Sweden’s substantial contribution to the country’s development, particularly in the sectors of education, health, energy, good governance, and community development. He emphasized that Tanzania highly values the historic relationship between the two nations and is committed to further strengthening it for the mutual benefit of both sides.
He also underscored the importance of promoting trade and investment rather than relying solely on aid, inviting Sweden to increase its investments in renewable energy, ICT, agriculture, industry, and tourism. The Minister noted that Tanzania aims to achieve 85 percent national energy access by 2025 and therefore welcomes collaboration in clean and sustainable energy projects.
For her part, Minister Stenergard commended Tanzania for maintaining peace, good governance, and inclusive economic growth policies. She acknowledged Tanzania’s vital role as a pillar of peace and development in the East African region.
Minister Stenergard further assured that Sweden will continue to cooperate with Tanzania in promoting democracy, social development, and renewable energy initiatives. She noted that Swedish companies are keen to expand their investments in Tanzania, particularly in infrastructure, mining, transport, and healthcare.
The two ministers agreed to establish a framework for political and economic consultations aimed at laying a solid foundation for a strategic partnership that will foster sustainable development for the people of both nations.

TANZANIAN DIASPORA TO ACCESS SERVICES MORE EASILY THROUGH "AKAUNTI YA MZAWA" – HON. CHUMI
The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Cosato Chumi (MP), has announced that Tanzanians living abroad will now be able to access financial services more conveniently through the "Akaunti ya Mzawa", launched by Absa Bank Tanzania.
Speaking at the launch event held in Dar es Salaam, Hon. Chumi commended the initiative, stating that it provides an opportunity for the diaspora to actively contribute to national development through investment, remittance services, and insurance, all available in five different currencies.
@telenor@TelenorDanmark you sold me services which are being paid for on time, but last month I added a new line to my account. The credit limit remained the same so you suspended all my services with one hour notice. The credit card on file is good and all bills are paid automatically. When I called I was advised that the credit limit won’t be increased and it was a mistake to sell me another line above the maximum credit limit you provide for customers. Obviously I asked for a solution and was advised that the only solution will be to go to another phone company. Really?? I am absolutely shocked at your customer service - and so I will move to another company even if I have been with you for many years. 😒 I do recommend that you invest in training customer services and your client retention abilities.
