Putin’s latest visit to China ended in a complete failure as gas pipeline talks collapsed

China has frozen negotiations with Russia over the Power of Siberia 2 pipeline. According to The Wall Street Journal, during Vladimir Putin’s most recent visit to Beijing, Chinese officials asked the Russian delegation not to raise the issue of the project again until the terms of the deal change.

The newspaper reports that Beijing is willing to sign the contract only if Russia agrees to supply gas at domestic Russian prices — a condition Moscow considers economically unacceptable.

The proposed price is around $50 per 1,000 cubic meters, far below Russia’s export rates.

Είπε πολλά ο Γρηγόρης Δημητριάδης στον Θανάση Λάλα.
Επειδή δεν είδα κανέναν πολιτικό αρχηγό να σχολιάσει τα λεγόμενά του, ας κάνω τρία σύντομα σχόλια εγώ, που σύμφωνα με κάποιους είμαι τάχα έτοιμος να προσχωρήσω στη ΝΔ χάρη σε ένα τένις.

1) Ουσιαστικά παραδέχθηκε, με ύφος που παραπέμπει σε μαφιόζικη ορολογία, ότι στην υπόθεση των παράνομων παρακολουθήσεων αυτός «έφαγε τη σφαίρα για να μείνει στην εξουσία το αφεντικό»…

2) Ουσιαστικά δήλωσε, με απίστευτο κυνισμό, ότι ο ίδιος βρίσκεται πάνω από τους θεσμούς της χώρας. Πάνω από τη Βουλή, πάνω από τη Δικαιοσύνη.
Ό,τι και να κάνουν, αυτός δεν πρόκειται να αποκαλύψει ποτέ την αλήθεια, ήταν το νόημα όσων είπε.
Μάλλον αντιγράφει τον Φραπέ, επικαλούμενος κι ο ίδιος το δικαίωμα της σιωπής...

3) Τέλος, είπε με αλαζονεία ότι δεν φοβάται μήπως αλλάξουν οι πολιτικοί συσχετισμοί και βρεθεί κατηγορούμενος.
Όσο γι' αυτό, ας κρατάει μικρό καλάθι...

Nearly 2,000 years ago, the Roman Empire maintained an extensive maritime trade network with India through the Red Sea and across the Indian Ocean.

After Roman sailors learned to take advantage of the seasonal monsoon winds, direct voyages became faster, safer, and more predictable, dramatically expanding trade. Roman merchants imported black pepper, pearls, ivory, gemstones, fine cotton textiles, and other luxury goods from India, while exporting wine, glassware, coral, metals, and silverware.

Because Roman exports did not fully offset the value of these imports, merchants frequently paid the difference with gold and silver coins. Archaeologists have uncovered thousands of Roman coins, amphorae, and other artifacts at ancient trading sites across India, confirming the remarkable scale of Indo-Roman commerce.

Pliny's remarks are among the earliest surviving written criticisms of a persistent trade imbalance and the outflow of precious metals to pay for imported luxury goods.
