So much this. Articles and even people rationalise and build a narrative of their actions to hide their true incentives. Perhaps to hide their lack of spine.
"Why don't Millenials do-"
Money.
"Why isn't Gen-Z."
MONEY.
"Why"
MONEY.
NO ONE HAS ANY MONEY. THAT’S WHY INDUSTRIES ARE DYING, WHY “KIDS” AREN’T DOING ANYTHING, AND WHY NO ONE OWN’S SH*T ANYMORE, WE’RE BROKE AS F*CK AND TIRED OF THESE GOD DAMN “ARTICLES” ACTING LIKE WE’RE DOING THIS ON PURPOSE. AS IF WE WANT TO LIVE THIS WAY.
@Itsfoss It's a blessing to have such quality and ownership of your computer all given away for free. If Linux was invented today you will have to submit your face pic to use it. The kind of people pushing for freedoms that resulted in Linux are gone/retired/old.
@NoContextHumans If you buy the fruits individually it's cheaper. If you buy frozen you can get a whole bag for ~10$ for making smoothies. The problem is laziness to make it yourself. You can buy frozen avocado, and have some avocado toast with the price on the left.
@NehraWorkss FYI fancy animation like that has been around since before 2010. You can even enable fireworks, fireballs around mouse, and other useless things.
@LundukeJournal embrace, extend, extinguish. Buggy coreutils is a feature that makes the extinguish strategy more successful. Old scripts & software that depend on gnu coreutils are now invalid, developers will be forced to rewrite everything to run on buggy coreutils.
@rabbitholebot yes they are. Health foods, red therapy, supplements. nootropics, gyms & exercise equipment. The drive to live another day is stronger than maintaining ones health when already healthy. It's easier to be unhealthy so most are unhealthy, and so it's a bigger industry.
@tsoding This is akin to the best software has no UI because it just does what you want. But such a design means you can't say "has X feature" because X is no longer needed.
@yo_swif@ZPostFacto All those you mentioned require making copies of the data itself to use, and as soon as you use it require all upstream API's to use your specific type. const void* is free of type bureaucracy.
@yo_swif@ZPostFacto The type safety in such cases would be a lie because the bytes are processed disregarding all type information in the function. I agree with OP, for a generic data buffer, void* is preferred. Make a VoidCast if you do this alot to save on typing in the function implementation.
@ItIsHoeMath The word you are looking for is sycophant. Most people are sycophants. It's more intelligent than following what appears to be popular. Simps, yes-men, ass-kissing, doing what appears is popular. All are forms of sycophants.
@rabbitholebot This is the only group of people with an actual spine, and real mental strength. This is the real men, how men are supposed to be. As I look around me sycophants, simps, yes-men everywhere, will say & do anything for their own personal benefits.
@rabbitholebot Money is printed to pay off debt. Normal people have to work for it, corporations will get newly printed money with government contracts. Quality of our lives is completely dependant on how those that get the new money spend, including wages. Governments will never default.
