My small town is full of zombies today. Not for a movie. They are the countless number of people walking around head down not looking where they are going expecting others to get out of their way. Could be a new game - Zombie Crashing when they walk into each other.
We can learn so much from older generations. Through all their storms of life they continue to love, show respect and manners, and help other people out. They teach the generations since how to act and behave. Must be hard for them living in today's world.
The quiet of an early morn. The first slivers of light are appearing. The birds trilling the dawn chorus. It feels a different world when you can catch your breath and hear yourself think. Somehow all seems well at this time. Life yet to invade, just peace, solitude and coffee.
I've started ending the day by lighting up candles so I can sit and chill to soft music or a classic book in the low light. Smoothe and mellow nights with beautiful scents. I'm a changed man.
We may be one race, one group of humans, one planet, but I don't want a global mentality. We are still different people, places, cultures, traditions, ways of living, and history. We are local inhabitants and communities. Global desires are destroying everything.
It's not easy to do but what if we started to see more of the best in people and the world? Yes it means giving up what tells and shows us the opposite. But, we will be investing in a better life for ourselves and our children. Let's look for good in people and see what happens.
My small town is full of young children on half term. It's wonderful to hear them playing and laughing and loving their holiday time. Hearing kids laugh is one of the special sounds in life.
Not every day can be a great day but can have great moments. I'm sitting by the garden, sun streaming in low as leaves fall from the trees in a golden shower with a hot tea and toast just loving this short peaceful time. Life is made of such moments to fill the soul.
I love human skills. The man across the road has been making a new table since 8am this morning. I can't help watching his sawing and shaping and sanding as the table comes together. He seems proud of his efforts and he should be. It looks terrific.
I've taken up more reading before bed. Finally getting round to reading some of the books I always wanted to. Swear to God I'm sleeping better too. Tonight it's The Great Gatesby. And it is great.
I miss having a real open fire. Coming home on a dark, cold night after a long day then sitting in front of the burning logs or coal with warm socks toasting and a hot chocolate in hand. Central heating isn't the same like that.
People seem to be working earlier these days. It's nearly 4pm in my office and many are packing up to go. Never used to be like this. Just a handful of us left. Guess everyone values a longer evening at home nowadays. Been like this since Spring. Have you experienced that too??
Happy people are infectious. There is a local tour guide in the small historical town where I work. He's incredibly jolly and smiley and he has the most customers compared to the others nearby. Even visitors not on his tour are crossing the road to hear his humorous stories.
Where do you find your inspiration today? In the modern world I don't see many people who give me that so I delve into old books and autobiographies about lives and stories that make me keep believing in a better future despite everything. People who HAVE achieved great things.
Some days you just are in a different mood. Early start and I just felt like classical music on my drive to work in the dark. Some calm sounds to start the day. It worked, as everyone else whizzed by in a mad rush, I stayed in my lane cruising with Mozart.
If I was wealthier I would build a large library in my home with the most inspiring books and a coffee shop bar attached and invite people round simply to sit and read with a quality roast in a quiet private space. That's my dream.
Nearly a full moon. Crystal clear sky tonight and the moon is bright. It's a mystical light shining at night. You feel drawn to look at it. Like it knows you.
Anyone love looking at the moon?
