🇬🇭 Ghana Opens Citizenship Applications for Historic Diasporans — Here’s How It Works

The Ministry of the Interior and the Diaspora Affairs Office have announced the process for obtaining Ghanaian citizenship by historic diasporans:

Step 1: Document Submission

Submit required documents at the World Trade Center, Accra
February 2–6, 2026 | 9am–3pm
Pay GH¢1,500 administrative fee (paid first)

Step 2: Application Fee (After Shortlisting)
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by email or phone
Pay GH¢25,000 citizenship application fee at the Ministry of the Interior only
Fees are non-refundable and must not be paid to any third party

Step 3: Vetting & Orientation
• Successful applicants undergo vetting
• Attend a one-day citizenship orientation class

Step 4: Induction Ceremony
• Invitations sent by the Diaspora Affairs Office
• March 5, 2026 — Citizenship induction by President John Mahama

Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 years and above.
