Hey I’m Monique 👋🏾
I’m an indie animation producer and have been working in production management for animated feature films for the last 10 years.
With this influx of indie animation, I’ve created a few resources to help those getting started.

Matthew Lillard criticized the industry for prioritizing celebrities over voice actors in animation:
“The ability to carry a film, as the lead of a film with only a voice, is a power very few people have. The idea that they keep hiring crappy celebrities to carry huge films is killing us.”
AI doesn't stand a chance. Just look at how packed theaters are for Digital Circus, look at the numbers indie animations are pulling online. The big corporations aren't moving the same numbers anymore and they're desperate. Don't let recent events discourage you, there's a golden age of indie animation happening right now.
First trailer for ‘I AM FRANKELDA’, the first-ever stop-motion film made in Mexico.
The film follows a writer who is taken to another realm to help write nightmares to keep monsters alive.
Releasing June 12 on Netflix.
Let me trace the timeline here because nobody's connecting it.
Step 1: Scrape the entire internet. Every book, every article, every conversation, every piece of art, every forum post. Do it without asking. Do it without paying.
Step 2: Train a model on all of it. Call it "artificial intelligence."
Step 3: Go to BlackRock's Infrastructure Summit and announce: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter."
Step 3 is where you sell people's own knowledge back to them. On a meter.
They took the collective output of human thought, compressed it into a model, and now they want to charge you by the token to access a version of what you and everyone you know already created.
One Reddit user put it perfectly: "They stole all this data from us, the people, our life's work, creativity, art, by devouring the internet and blowing through all copyright laws. Now they want to sell it back to us in the form of a utility."
Imagine if someone photocopied every book in the public library, burned the library down, and then opened a subscription service for the copies.
That's the metered intelligence business model.
And they're pitching it to infrastructure investors as though they invented water.
This is the entire point of them trying to defund USPS. They will make you all reliant on capitalism instead of a government funded mailing system so that they can choose how to punish you when you don't meet their demands.
A peer-reviewed study found Black patients matched with Black doctors were 27% less likely to die in the hospital. A separate study found Black residents live longer in counties with more Black primary care physicians. “Find A Black Doctor” exists because the disparities are real
We're officially dubbing the rest of 2026 the Year of Moon!🌙
Every month until the end of the year, we'll be sharing a short SM film scan with you all, leading up to the 35th anniversary of the manga, which will end with an absolute BANG.

My debut novel, IF I RULED THE WORLD, has been described as The Devil Wears Prada meets Empire meets Brown Sugar. Think late 1990s/early 2000s New York at the intersection of hip hop, magazines, fashion, ambition, love, and power. Available here: https://t.co/1VevEKmX5U
What I find interesting about the first 5 Pixar movies is each one was essentially a tech demo for computer graphics at the time.
Toy Story was to show you could even make a computer animated movie
A Bugs Life was to show you could have hundreds of individual models on screen
Monsters Inc. Was to showcase fur and hair physics
Finding Nemo was to showcase underwater effects and motion.
another fun fact about this film - when I first pitched this to my MA tutors, the only feedback I got was “we love the idea, but get your mother’s consent. we don’t want you to remember your time here as the time you had a falling out with her” (1/3)
What if Belle's mother was the enchantress that cursed The Beast?
Disney Publishing Worldwide debuted a new "A TWISTED TALES" animation to promote the novel "As Told As Time"
