@AlexBJanjic @MKIttlesonMD Respectfully disagree. Hierarchies can create division and reduce the likelihood of junior colleagues voicing concerns around medical safety issues. There is a balance to be struck here.
SimStart Day 3. Awesome scenarios and all things simulation. Faculty are in their happy place. Heads up for SimAdvance - an advanced simulation course, planned for early 2022.
@SimStartWA It’s great to be back teaching on SimStart for the next three days. We’ve been having fun with moulage this afternoon and discussing psychological safety. Does it even exist??
Deep dive into debriefing today on Day 2 of SimStart. Debriefing is such a challenge so it’s great to be able to watch and learn today. @ellentaylorbuck
If your answer to #1 is yes and your answer to #2 is no, you have a serious disconnect with the science that shows infected people generate more aerosols by simply speaking than any common AGPs. So the correct answers should be yes and yes if you are following the science.
(2/3)
"Talking, exertional breathing & coughing generate substantially more aerosols than the respiratory therapies HFNO and NIPPV"
This is very important new evidence
Surgical masks may deflect rather than reduce aerosol release.

@Chakladar_A@mjb302 It's all starting to make sense, right @doctimcook?

@DRTomlinsonEP@mjb302@doctimcook @microlabdoc "Tracheal intubation may require HCWs to be in close proximity to a patient's airway for prolonged periods of time and the association of transmission of SARS-CoV in this setting would be biologically plausible"
Compare with nurses on Covid wards with talking/coughing patients
Measuring CO2 indoors is a cheap easy way of checking air health.
Outside 450ppm
600 ok
700 is high
In a clinic room with 4 people for 1 hour we got to 1370. We need fresh air from AC or a window or a HEPA filter device to remove airborne virus.

📌1/Infectious #SARSCoV2 in the air of a car 2 hrs after unmasked driver w/mild #COVID exited vehicle. Researchers found the virus in tiny air samples (0.25-0.5 um) and showed the virus retained ability to infect cells in a lab. H/T @UniversalMaski2 1/8🧵
