One thing no one tells you, it's really hard to be consistent with engaging people on social media when in your personal life, you don't even use social media.
This feels like a whole other job I didn't sign up for.
Stop falling for the scams that make you think you need to get up at 5 am, stop seeing your friends, work like a slave, etc, etc.
Real success is a marathon. Run it at your own damn pace, whatever that looks like.
@theandreilucian When I first learning coding, I took every free course I could find.
I only became a better developer when I started building. Same with marketing.
I'm better at it now because I just do it.
@Samriddhiiiii18@_baretto Most indie hackers have limited budgets. I've never spoken to one who wanted to sound cool. Most are solo because they have no choice.
As someone who once had a team, I'm now solo because I realised I had so much to learn before leading other people.
@david_nix I keep explaining to my family that even if I fail, the skills I gain here will take me so much further than if I hadn't tried.
I'm also grateful for the community of like-minded people I'm meeting along the way. They're making this journey a lot less lonely.
@phillcabral@bartoszgdak Needed to read this.
I go from one high to one low. It's only exhausting, but I keep showing up because I believe in what I'm doing.
@agazdecki True this.
I saw it with my family members. Watched them struggle for years to get their businesses off the ground.
Now the same people are living it up, but it was years of struggle.
Most people looking at them only see the fruits of the labour, but not the sacrifice.
@UxDamini_ Can't see the text on the top one, don't like the hard line between left and right on the bottom one.
But if I had to choose, it would be reluctantly bottom but preferably neither.
@ArtiumWs@theandreilucian I've wasted time just trying to figure out what tools to use, but now, thanks to Chatgpt, I tell it what I'm working on, budget constraints and what I want to achieve.
It's done a great job so far of recommending tools
@trikcode Yeah, it's a big no for me.
This is from someone who gets up at 4 am, dropped out of uni to travel the world, taught myself to code while nursing a newborn, and led a team of 10 in a startup I founded that failed dismally.
Life's too short for this, whatever this is.
