🚨BREAKING: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has cleaned house at Stars and Stripes.

The publisher, the editor-in-chief, and a reporter at the taxpayer-funded military newspaper have been removed. The stated reason: insubordination.

Chuck Schumer and others are calling it an attack on free speech.

Stars and Stripes is paid for by American taxpayers and serves U.S. service members. It is not a private activist outlet. Hegseth’s move comes after the paper’s leadership publicly pushed back against Pentagon direction and emphasized independence from the Department of Defense in media interviews.

You don’t get to take government money, serve the military community, and then treat the Pentagon as the enemy while refusing direction from the civilian leadership that oversees it.

This is accountability for a publicly funded organization — not censorship of private speech.

Hegseth is restoring standards at a military newspaper that exists to inform the troops, not lecture the Department of Defense.
