For those who don't get the point/joke:

Something I wish a lot more people understood regarding LLM generative AI, Electric Vehicles, and any other new/innovating tech:
It always starts out expensive, problematic/riddled with bugs/kinks/issues, and as a toy for enthusiasts/the rich/trend following douchebags. Look at TVs (all forms), computers, the internet, our smartphones, microwaves, on and on. As time goes on, the tech develops, matures, spreads, supply expands, prices drop, it becomes a lot more accessible, and eventually people forget what it was like to live without it. Even if they DID live without it!
It's happened with all of the above, it'll happen (and IS happening!) to EVs/LLM AI, et al. That' just how things go. Especially apropos now, given fuel prices & maintenance costs for regular long matured and developed ICE vehicles. 💀
It's why I am so frustrated at both my fellow gen y'ers and the zoomers for falling for this trap. Because we have the benefit of hindsight over, say the baby boomers who pulled, and continue to pull, the same bogosity with smartphones, the internet, and PCs!
And it's especially egregious when said 25+ year old and beyond are in the STEM fields. That's like having a doctor who is a germ theory denialist ffs!
Submission to @HopeExistential’s contest.
Our children will grow up with what we would have called magic; and perhaps the greatest educational resource ever created.
Yet they’re told constantly that it will rot their brains, make learning pointless, and destroy their future.
We owe it to our children to inspire them to pair their creativity with these amazing tools and bring what they imagine to life. If all we offer is doom, we make a bleak future more likely.
Likewise, sharing stories & ideas about a techno-positive future can help bring one about. Thanks to Existential Hope for helping to nudge us in that direction.
