Digital dev fanatic, esp. digital inclusion & data ethics, women in tech. This is me professional-like. For snark & activism, follow to @eileenleft5 She/her
Who just happened to pass the CIPP/E this morning?
Which means she is now well on her way to being a CERTIFIED INFORMATION PRIVACY PROFESSIONAL?
[Not just certifiable any more!]
@mattxiv I bet it was about the "Tearoom Trade", highly controversial research/book on gay bathroom sex written in 60s/70s. The researcher used deceit & followed his subjects home w/o their knowledge. Research ethics discussions routinely use this as an example.

@EricBoyle A colleague recently commented on how fast I can write about my subject matter expertise (with some self-recriminations about her speed).
I told her, I can do this because I have been writing constantly on this topic for literally decades... I was not that fast at her age.
@Cheriepb119 This is why, as the wife of a trans person, I am inclined to say something when I hear that crap - too often, it is not safe for trans people to say something, but we need to combat bigotry in our communities at every point.
And we never know who is listening.
@alixabeth I have a strong opinion that people want to, should get married to the person who makes them feel wonderful about themselves & who they impact similarly.
Timing when that happens is usually out of one's control.
Hey friends and colleagues! I wanted dto announce I have joined USAID as a Digital Development Advisor (DDI/ITR). Sad to leave @_DTGlobal but know that the DDGT team will be great in the hands of Kelly Church!
@prolifenanaki22 @appalucie @AvaGrac46763969 Oh you got me. I was so prescient about this exact conversation that I created this account in 2008, and tweeted about various non related topics for over a decade, + created an easily Google-able online record so that I could trick you for the sake of 0 stakes Twitter debate.
@AvaGrac46763969 @prolifenanaki22 @appalucie More like, there is a direct connection between poverty and infant mortality. Investments in poverty programs lead to improvements in infant and maternal mortality, something you supposedly give a shit about.

@prolifenanaki22 @AvaGrac46763969 @appalucie Or do you stop giving a shit about that kid once it leaves the mother's body, like most "pro life" politicians? Or are you looking for white babies to sell?
"You will know them by their fruits" - politicians who gut welfare & benefits are the ones with blood on their hands.
@prolifenanaki22 @AvaGrac46763969 @appalucie Tell me, those anti abortion people you vote for? Do they also vote against food stamps, expansion of medicaid, sex ed in school? Homeless support? Free or cheap community college? I.e. all the things that might make it economically feasible for a mom to raise a baby?
@prolifenanaki22 @AvaGrac46763969 @appalucie And even with all of that, it was damned hard and expensive. We had a ton of privilege - double income, family with $$, a home, stable careers, no student debt, no significant disabilities.
@prolifenanaki22 @AvaGrac46763969 @appalucie All of this was only possible because by the time we had kids, we both had our degrees (a masters for me) plus 10 yrs of experience. I had traveled extensively internationally pre kids (nutrition based child survival in Africa) which allowed me to *not travel* later.
