"Gangsta's Paradise" was the apex & beginning of the end. A source of parody (Weird Al, High School High) largely because of a corny idea to put Michelle Pfeiffer in the video. But it's also a harrowing & vivid storytelling rap song with LV from South Central Cartel on the hook.
Say what you will about the film, it can't be denied Gangsta's Paradise is one of the best film tracks ever produced.
Hip-Hop has been missing this special combination of rap, classical and gospel music that was popular in the 90s.
