A heartbreaking tragedy has once again exposed the danger of mob justice in our society.

A woman, a mother, and an Islamic teacher, Ummulkhairi, reportedly lost her life after being falsely accused of child kidnapping while on her way to attend a Qur'anic lecture.

According to reports, she simply asked some children for directions because she was unfamiliar with the area. Within moments, rumors spread, accusations followed, and a crowd formed. Despite being taken to a police station and despite people coming forward to identify her and testify to her character, the mob refused to listen.

What happened next is every innocent person's nightmare.

She was dragged out and brutally killed. Her body was burned in front of people who could have chosen compassion over violence, facts over rumors, and justice over rage.

The most painful question is this: When did suspicion become enough to justify taking a human life?

If someone is accused of a crime, there are courts, investigations, and due process. No individual and no crowd has the right to become judge, jury, and executioner.

Today it was Ummulkhairi.

Tomorrow it could be someone's mother, wife, sister, daughter, or even you.

A society cannot thrive when rumors carry more weight than evidence and when anger replaces justice. Mob justice is not justice at all—it is lawlessness, and it threatens every innocent person.

If the reports are accurate, then everyone involved in this horrific act must be identified, investigated, and held accountable under the law. Equally troubling are questions about the protection she should have received once she was in police custody.

May Allah forgive Ummulkhairi, grant her the highest ranks in Jannah, and give strength and patience to her husband, children, family, and loved ones.

An attack on justice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We must reject mob violence, defend the rule of law, and remember that every human life is sacred. 💔🕊️🤲
