150 mins/week is "a lot" in today's hustle culture.
But getting it done could mean all of this (and more) in your 60's:
- Up a flight of stairs
- Playing with your dog / grandkids
- Traveling around with your hard-earned $
All w/o grunting, huffing, and puffing.
Let's get it!
“[The] effect of this intervention must be monitored, and alternative interventions need to be considered if the effect is not satisfactory.”
~~Quote from a random meta-analysis that can be applied to almost everything in life
It’s like dog training, habit building, and routine development.
In rehab, doing the same thing (then variations of that thing) gets you better. Until your body doesn’t need the constant reminder. And everything becomes automatic.
All thanks to our amazing nervous system.
There’s a feud between coaches & physios.
We can’t deny the overlap of the 2 practices—hence the butting of heads.
But let’s remind ourselves of the goal here: We’re all trying to get a person’s life better and pain free.
Not to prove who’s better/right.
@anymanfitness I’ve abstained from alcohol for over a year now and it’s been great!
Now I know it’s actually my fault—not peer pressure—when I don’t sleep great 😂
@stevemagness I fell for these "hacks" and "fads" one point in time.
Your thread was quite the departure from your usual kind of posts. (I'm sure it's temporary.)
People need to hear things like this, too. And validate the facts. Which is what I did before replying to agree with you 😂
Exercise shouldn't get in the way of life (work, family, hobbies, or side hustles).
Working with health professionals who recognize this ensures the sustainability of your efforts.
Both of you should have sight of the deep-seated why-I'm sure it's not being better at rehab/gym.
This is like buzzword bingo for exercise fads…
And so I can contribute something worthwhile:
-8x 20sec ALL OUT with 10 seconds rest is the dumbest workout known to mankind.
@NeoAthlete I’d hate it when people look down on people machines—especially when they’re at a fitness level doing calisthenics.
To your point, they make your overall program much more well-rounded!
