There’s been an important dialogue happening around the All Stars 10 cast reveal….specifically regarding the lack of deeper-skinned Black women this season. It’s a conversation worth having, and one I personally feel connected to. Representation matters. Seeing a range of skin tones—especially darker-skinned Black queens—on our screens is powerful and necessary.

This season includes myself, Kerri Colby, Olivia Lux, and DeJa Skye—each of us Black, each of us bringing different cultural and personal experiences to the table. I want to make it clear: advocating for deeper skin tone visibility should never mean erasing someone else’s Blackness. We can uplift one truth without diminishing another.

I’ve had to defend my own identity many times. My biological mother was African American with some Puerto Rican heritage, and my father is half African American and half Puerto Rican. Culturally and racially, they were both Black—and they were proud of it. So while I may not be perceived as the “Blackest” visually, my roots are deeply and undeniably Black. That intersection of Black and Latino identity exists, and it’s valid.

I understand people’s frustrations, and I share them. I’ve spoken to the other girls about the lack of darker-skinned representation this season. But it’s also important to understand that casting isn’t always black-and-white. Some queens aren’t available, others say no, and many have complex relationships with the show itself.

I encourage everyone to uplift the queens you want to see while casting is happening. Tag them. Celebrate them. Speak their names. There’s power in collective advocacy.

This conversation deserves nuance. Let’s continue pushing for broader representation, while also respecting the diverse identities of the queens who are here. We all want to see a cast that reflects the full beauty of our community—and that’s something we build together

I love these queer films. I highly recommend watching them. They are so fun. “Leave It On The Floor” is a musical. “The Skinny” & “Noah’s Arc Jumping The Broom” are movies about Black queer friend groups. And ooooo Hellbent is a gay slasher that has a disabled main character.
