It’s duplicating it.

Everything in Midgar, including the people were duplicated.

Then, this Midgar copy was merged with Zack’s world.

And that’s the world we see in the beginning of Rebirth

Aerith, at this point of the story, is **actively** searching for the real cloud.

Saying she’s using Cloud to recreate ZA at this point in the story directly regresses the narrative lol.

Not sure why you’d use that as an argument when they’re constantly called lovebirds and a couple throughout remake.

& constant soulmate themes, claudia(perfect for each other), etc

Then implies they’re in a fight(hence why he thinks Aerith is crying & didn’t pick them),

Saying they have to get on better terms with each other.

Yet as a CT, you’re not connected at all to this big moment

You’re disassociating yourself or crashing out. Feeling like your choices were invalidated.

It has already fundamentally changed.

And the only real narrative payoff to that change is her survival.

Otherwise, her character arc remains stagnant and other negative aspects.

You *should* be hoping she survives.

Those that hope she survives are more aligned with the emotions the story wants you to feel than those that hopes she dies.

And the only way I see it actually having a narrative payoff, especially with her character arc being stagnant otherwise, is her surviving

The glance after this line indicates the “you” in this line is specifically Cloud

2.) It’s not just a coincidental or ordinary glance. The context of it is very intentional.

I think we should rewatch the scene there.

CT is a lot more about cloud being engrossed in his soldier fantasy and doing what he feels a cool guy would do.

For example, have you read the script for the CT resolution in remake?
