2) 'a brilliant football player' could not be written as 'a brilliant and football player', so a comma would be incorrect here.
3) In 'a long, hot summer day', 'long' and 'hot' both refer to the 'summer day'. They therefore need a comma between them but not before 'summer'. [6/6]
Ever written a sentence with multiple adjectives before a noun and wondered whether there should be a comma between them? It depends what type of adjectives they are: 'coordinate' or 'cumulative' #scicomm#AcademicTwitter#AcWri#writingtips [1/6]
If 'and' would fit between the adjectives, they're coordinate and you should use a comma. If not, they're cumulative and you shouldn't. Some examples:
1) 'a big, heavy box' could be written as 'a big and heavy box', so it needs a comma. [5/6]
"The texts we sent her were particularly difficult to translate, in light of the specialist terminology and contextual specifics involved, but Susie rose to the challenge"

@Paul_Seli Wow, I’ve never come across cleaning costs that high! Does seem a bit unreasonable if you’re also going to punish messy clients through a bad review 🤔
@Paul_Seli Whether you’re messy or clean, the host still has to wash the bedding, clean the bathroom, etc. I guess it’s easier to charge the same fee to all guests so that costs balance out overall?
Tip: Use a semicolon to separate elements in a series that already contain commas.
Example:
The color order was red, yellow, blue; blue, yellow, red; or yellow, red, blue.
