@oldfilmsflicker I just saw the film for the first time last week, so this was an ideal time to read these very enjoyable interviews.
(I hope you'll permit me to point out that the play referred to by Mr. Riegert is entitled Sexual Perversity [not 'Diversity'] in Chicago.)
@SightSoundmag Nice to have all these notable names in one place.
Just thought I'd pass on a minor correction: the English title of the film starring Niels Arestrup is 'The Beat That My Heart Skipped', not 'The Beat That Skipped My Heart'.
@AnneBillson A German couple once stopped me on the streets of my adopted hometown of The Hague, to ask for directions to 'Sjeveningen', and my first thought, which I of course did not utter, was, 'Eighty years ago, that pronunciation could've gotten a person shot.'
@GaryGulman This is a flat-out masterpiece -- killer jokes embedded in a beautifully conceived structure. Not an ounce of fat on it.
Would love to see you in Holland some day...
@selfstyledsiren Back in the late 90s there was a German record label with the unforgettable name of Crippled Dick Hot Wax that released a number of Franco soundtracks and compilations, including VL. You can get a sense of the Van Rooyen sound on the album 'At 200 Miles per Hour' (on Spotify).
@jfkenney Ms. Paget's image is staring down at me from this magnificent poster as I type this. (Luciana Paluzzi is still with us as well, it occurs to me.)
