I do not agree with this discriminatory grocery pricing scam. I don’t think simply labeling the tactics are happening is enough. Fairness is having only one price @NYCMayor
(5/10) Walmart, Whole Foods and Kohls are switching to electronic shelf labels that display dynamic prices. Kroger deployed them with Microsoft AI—a setup a 2024 Senate inquiry warned could enable “surge pricing” via facial recognition. (Kroger claims it will only lower prices.)
A move completely antithetical to the ethos of the Alamo and to those who love the theatrical experience they provide. This is a profound and upsetting mistake @alamodrafthouse
Agriculture across western Jamaica is likely being devastated right now. The immediate priority, of course, is protecting lives & ensuring safety.
In the days/weeks/years ahead, however, the loss of livelihoods & food security will become a serious concern.
When Hurricane Gilbert struck in 1988, it destroyed roughly 70 percent of Jamaica’s crops. Bananas, coffee, sugarcane, citrus, and coconuts, the backbone of the island’s agricultural & export economy, were nearly wiped out.
The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice. Except it doesn’t bend on its own—it bends because we pull it in the direction of justice. What keeps me hopeful during times like these is being surrounded by people who are doing just that.

These are not political news cycle issues. Trump is transforming what the United States is as a country in the world into a far right, authoritarian, transactional, valueless oligarchy aligned with the world's autocracies.
@iCyclone Thank you for all the reporting you do. It helped inform my family in Sarasota when you came last year with the hurricane. You gotta speak up - it’s needed. We can’t let this corrupt government destroy basic needs that keep people informed so they can make life-saving decisions.
As I have always said, I'm not political here. But if someone politicizes something that should never be political—for example, weather and weather warnings—I'm gonna speak up—because politics are now invading my turf. Get over it.
Farmers are suing the Department of Agriculture for deleting climate change data farmers use to make decisions and for destroying vital data used for agricultural research.

I’m SO thrilled to be leaving Twitter for Threads and Bluesky this week. I disagree with the new terms of service and that my account will mainly be used to feed LLMs on a platform that has become Anti-American. There are better places to rebuild community and uplift people. ✌🏼
Amid all of today’s anxiety, it helps to remember that the birds are still making their journeys south, as they have for millennia. They’re following ancient pathways most have never traveled in search of winter food supplies they’ve never seen. What a wonder. Down here, we’ll keep doing what we can to help them get there, bird by injured bird. And we’re grateful for the large, compassionate community around us doing the same.

@ttrager@SethAbramson I believe in the humanity of others. So my pure faith will always be in that gesture. I am not a religious person. I have just come to know kindness through sharing meals and listening. But I really don’t like the misinformation. It’s hurting everyone’s souls. Stay good!
