Software development speed, matters, we want to create software quickly and efficiently, and the assumption that this comes at the expense of high-quality software or high-end software development is simply a mistake.

Software Engineer == Problem Solver
Don't attack problems with code. Try first to understand them from a business perspective and then a technical perspective. When you do this, make a plan for how to solve it.
Try to solve without coding. The best code is not code.
If you must code, then do it.
Remember, 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁.

@Aaronontheweb We use a special api endpoint for that. Only available in staging slot. And we write all SQL in one embedded SQL file. New fields need to be nullable as long as you want to be able to revert to previous version.
The thing upper management wants most often is to speed delivery. What they don't realize is that delivery speed is a systems issue. To speed delivery, you need to fix the entire system. They are a part of that system, however, and are usually unwilling to be "fixed." 😄

Software is about people, by people.
Customers don't choose an application because it's developed in JavaScript, C# or Rust.
They choose it because it makes their life easier.
So instead of getting lost in the tech, focus on making your customers happy!
In "Thinking, Fast and Slow," Daniel Kahneman observes that walking slowly is condusive to thinking. Ideas have time to percolate. When you walk fast, tho, you're too concentrated on the act of walking (and not tripping on something) to think about much at all. Same for software.

Future-proofing is waste. You'll never need most of that "flexibility." Instead, make the code easy to refactor by making it as simple as possible.
