I think these are undeniable contributions. I think it is ultimately deep-seated, though. Someone in the replies of one of my posts said that it is something that infects every (societal) class and it is true. It has a lot to do with patriarchy in itself and its family structure.

Proshippers seem to also ignore several therapists saying not to indulge in these things since it CAN make them desensitized and romanticize it. My own therapist said that she finds therapists who encourage that as bad due to the harm it brings. Shes been a therapist for 20+ yrs
