Just to restate it and leave it clear for the record.
I’m not arguing that same-sex desire is therefore moral. I’m pointing out an inconsistency in some Christians’ arguments.
Christians already teach a fallen nature from conception (Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:19). That is not the same thing as a newborn having adult sexual desire. It means the human will is already bent.
So the claim “nobody is born gay” needs more than “babies don’t have attractions yet.” If some disordered desires can be present as a fallen disposition, this one is not automatically in a different category.
The stronger argument is the one I already agreed with: even if the inclination is early, unchosen, or stubborn, that still does not give permission to live outside God’s order.
Surrender is the point either way.
We should say that clearly instead of mixing “not born this way” with “born sinners” and leaving both undefined.
@RisenRepublic@ibrycecrawford Lastly, how come you disqualify the possibility of being born in sin, and mentioned genetics in the same paragraph?
This is what I am talking about. As Christians we need to get our facts straight and stop the ambiguity.
@RisenRepublic@ibrycecrawford My point is, it is a stronger argument to say that because there is a sinful disposition by nature, it doesn’t justify us to live outside of God’s order.
It’s about surrender.
The death, resurrection, and blood covenant that Jesus Christ made with those that have received Him in their heart. The devil has lost his case against them.
@_answersking To share the Word, the gospel. To share that Jesus, the Christ, the Son of the living God, resurrected, redeemed us from our sins and reconciled us to God the Father.
How do you think we are spiritually fed? With the Word of God.
@_answersking Don’t you realize that the only Rock is Jesus?
Same way that in verse 23 the devil was speaking through him, in verse 17 Jesus tells him that he did not learn this (the revelation) from any human being.
