पाली जिले के भावनगर गांव के एक ही परिवार के पांच लोगों की सड़क हादसे में मृत्यु की खबर अत्यंत दुःखद एवं हृदयविदारक है। मेरी गहरी संवेदनाएं शोक संतप्त परिजनों के साथ हैं, ईश्वर उन्हें संबल प्रदान करें।

A welcome directive by the Hon’ble Supreme Court through the suo motu cognizance of concerns surrounding the definition of the Aravalli Hills to stay its implementation. The BJP government’s proposed definition of the Aravalli hills, had triggered widespread public concern and unrest.

The Supreme Court has expressed concerns over the new definition of the Aravalli Hills and has directed that no new mine leases be granted, ensuring immediate protection of the range.

Spanning 4 states, including Rajasthan, the Aravalli hills range is an eco-sensitive zone of immense ecological significance, crucial for preventing desertification, regulating climate, and recharging groundwater. Under the proposed new definition of “100 meters height” nearly 90% of these ranges would have been exposed to illegal mining and construction activities.

I thank the environmentalist, NGOs, youth, and all citizens who came forward in support of this cause to save Aravalli.

Any attempts to dilute the definition for short-term gains must be firmly opposed, and a transparent, science-based approach to defining the Aravalli Hills must be ensured.
