Jason Voorhees is NOT a government super soldier.

After the Crystal Lake trailer sparked theories that the series could be giving Jason a Stranger Things-style origin, showrunner Brad Caleb Kane is shutting that idea down.

BRAD CALEB KANE: “I don’t want people watching, thinking that we’re doing some sort of Stranger Things, Eleven, government super soldier. It’s not that, it’s its own thing.”

Kane does confirm that Crystal Lake will provide “certain explanations,” but says they’re grounded in the reality of the ’60s and ’70s and the era’s mistrust of institutions.

I’m all for expanding the mythology. Just don’t explain Jason so much that he stops being Jason.
