Surgical Oncologist. #Immunotherapy for solid tumors. All my tweets/comments are my own. Medical decisions should be made between patients and their MDs.
@jitcancer@nicholasklemen This is an example of a patient without a response. Take a look at the article and the more impressive figure (IMO) of a patient with a clinical response to TIL.
It was a happy task, being asked to reflect on the contributions of the Branch. Humbly standing on the shoulders of giants, creating the medicines of tomorrow. TIL immunotherapy comes of age: a journey of development in the Surgery Branch, NCI https://t.co/nHbr0BgfJm
This week, NBCC President and proud Philly native Fran Visco was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal. @CBSPhiladelphia highlighted some of her breast cancer advocacy work. Watch here: https://t.co/G2uYB8XxcC
Always an inspiration to hear Dr Stephanie Goff present on #TILs. We need to stop thinking about this as palliative therapy! TILs have the potential to CURE- complete responders from @theNCI with 10 year melanoma-specific survival of 96%. Unmodified TILs are just a starting point. Now, how do get MORE of our patients to a CR? #ImmunotherapyBridge24
A little bit of #SITC24. On the tail end of four days in Houston. @NCI_CCR_SB #TIL for melanoma and more! Photo courtesy of the long arms of @adinerman1990@AlexGustafsonMD
It was an honor to be selected as one of the NIH Great Teachers this year. I enjoyed giving grand rounds on Disparities in Trauna Care. Thanks to Dr Goff for the invitation. I met many NIH faculty and students and Dr Gilman the CEO of the Hospital. @UCSFSurgery, @ZSFGCare.
I remember that day! I forgot it was picture day :) such great memories of Surgery Branch Tea Talks, with sludgy coffee, but getting to hear about everyone’s vacations or hobbies before diving into really interesting science.
I can’t imagine going through that year without these two guys. And the support of our faculty and nurses. Thankful for the patients that taught me how to be a better doctor and finding my passion for cancer research.
The melanoma community is mourning the loss of a giant with the passing of Dr. Jeffrey Weber. His passion will live on in his work and in the many, many people he inspired to search for an end to cancer. Forever a member of the @NCI_CCR_SB family, may his loved ones find peace.
In this article, we describe tumor reduction after clinical application of personalized gene-engineered TCR cell therapy, from discovering rare clonotypes recognizing tumor-specific non-synonymous mutations, through cGMP manufacturing of retroviral supernatant and autologous PBL
Expanding our understanding of neoantigens outside canonical reading frames. Excellent work analyzing mutated proteins in alternate RF and fusions as T cell targets. Strong work!
Complex technology and immunology discussed wonderfully. Unlocking the mysteries of the T cell, even if society still can’t completely figure out hybrid conferences 😂
First NCI Tea Talk of 2024 in the books with a wonderful Immunotherapy presentation given by Dr. Kyle Hitscherich @DrHitscherich from the NCI Surgery Branch! Congratulations on a very successful and productive 3 years! @NCI_CCR_SB @NCIResearchCtr
Congratulations to all, but especially my boss, colleague, and mentor, Steven A. Rosenberg! Richly deserved and so incredibly happy for him @NCI_CCR_SB
We are thrilled to announce the election of 120 members and 24 international members to the National Academy of Sciences in recognition of their distinguished and continued achievements in original research.
Congratulations to our new #NASmembers and welcome to the Academy!
Not on the Twitter/X (that I know of) but started with key work by Parisa Malekzadeh #surgeonscientist and Drew Deniger. Building a TCR library that we can (hopefully) apply to so many people with advanced cancer!
Congratulations to the recipient of the Cancer Immunology Research Award for Outstanding Journal Article, Steven A. Rosenberg, for work on TCR–engineered T cells targeting mutant p53.
