1/4 - Cairns Hill is a jewel in the crown of the Sligo landscape and a key location in the proposed future WHS. Given the importance of Cairns Hill for the people of Sligo and the country, we at the SNL group believe we should not contravene our County Development Plan.
4/4 - We as a community need to know and show that we can not only plan well for our future, we can also be resolute in sticking to those commitments. These places have survived remarkably for over 5000 years; we need to think long and hard before overturning protective measures.
3/4 - The land they are on is a part of what they are; part of the experience that motivated people five millennia ago to construct sacred sites there. Every effort should be made to protect their landscape as well as the sites themselves.
Eventual nomination for full World Heritage Status, will be dependent on public consultation and local stakeholder engagement, and is expected to take a number of years to finalise. Local support will be critical to any subsequent nomination.

We've been on a social media 'go-slow' while we worked on the submission to get 'The passage tomb landscapes of Sligo' on Ireland's Tentative List. Just wanted to thank everyone for the support over the last 18 months, landowners, community groups and individuals #lovesligo
