When I think about how far I’ve come in my trading journey, I realize something important — it wasn’t a new strategy or indicator that made the difference.

The real growth came when I stopped chasing quick wins and started focusing on the small things I could control every single day.
Those small things slowly became habits, and those habits changed everything.

Here are three that made the biggest difference for me:

1. I started journaling every trade.
Not just wins and losses, but what I was thinking, how I felt, and why I made each decision. Over time, that journal became my most valuable teacher.

2. I planned every session before opening my charts.
No more “let’s see what happens today.” I went in with clear goals, setups to look for, and rules for when to walk away. That structure built my confidence.

3. I reviewed my week, not my day.
Looking at weekly progress stopped me from judging myself too harshly after one bad trade. It taught me to see patterns and think long-term.
None of these are flashy.

They’re simple. But if you stick to even one of them, you’ll start trading with more control and less emotion.
