Adults must teach kids to stand on their own two feet. It’s much easier to blame others or to compare situations, but they should be using that energy to compete. Teach them to take responsibility for their actions & earn what they want. It’s a lesson with a lifetime of benefit!
Life isn’t fair. Everyone fails. Everyone falls. Things don’t always go your way & life doesn’t hand out participation awards. But it does give you opportunities to keep going until you get it right. Don’t whine or complain. Don’t give up. Just get back up & keep getting back up!
Playing time isn’t your decision. It’s out of your control. You can control doing what it takes to become a better player. If you want to play more, then do more. Attack threats. Practice more. Perfect your role. Be better! You’re the only person responsible for what you control!
Could not be prouder of these young ladies! 8th grade District Champs! Lauren Smith and Keeley Hatcher received All-season Honors! Audrey Wilson and Lucy Nuse received All-Tournament Honors! Kate Hatcher received MVP of the District Tournament! @DrakesCreekMS

Let your kids be coached. Let them get used to coaches holding them accountable. If you save your children from discomfort & hardship, you often keep them from realizing their own strength, abilities. Let them grow their character so they can become confident, independent adults!
There are tons of amazingly talented players who eliminate themselves from ever making it due to lack of respect/bad attitude, terrible grades, no work ethic, poor social media posts, alcohol/drug/relationship issues, partying/social life. Be smart about all aspects of your life!
Coaches: When your career is behind you & all is said & done, no one will remember much about your record, but your players will always remember what kind of person you were, whether you cared & how you treated them. The legacy you leave later will be as inspiring as you are now!

PARENTS: When you blame other things (officials, coaches, conditions, circumstances, teammates) for the situation your son or daughter is in, then you're essentially teaching your child how to be an excuse maker. Set the standard. Be the standard.
