On International Yoga Day, I reflect on the importance of discipline, balance, and inner strength in both life and leadership.
I remain ever grateful to Master Nanda Siriwardana for introducing me to the practice of yoga, a journey that continues to inspire mindfulness, resilience, and well-being.
Wishing everyone a meaningful International Yoga Day.

Sri Lanka’s overseas workforce is one of our greatest economic strengths.
While billions in foreign exchange flow into our country through their hard work and sacrifice, too often their contribution goes unrecognized.
The SLPP Economic Revival Plan introduces targeted incentives for remittances sent through CBSL-registered banks, rewarding those who help sustain our economy and strengthen our reserves.
Supporting remittances is supporting Sri Lanka.

Economic recovery means little if it is not felt by ordinary families.
That is why the SLPP Economic Revival Plan allocates Rs. 678.2 billion 68% of the proposed Treasury Fund directly towards relief measures that support vulnerable households, protect livelihoods, and ease the burden of rising living costs.
Economic policy must work for people, not just statistics.

No child should be forced to learn on an empty stomach.
With child undernutrition remaining a serious concern, the SLPP Economic Revival Plan allocates Rs. 28 billion to strengthen the School Meal Programme, increasing the daily allocation from Rs. 110 to Rs. 310 per child.
This investment will support 1.4 million students, improve nutrition, and strengthen educational outcomes across the country.

Access to affordable finance remains one of the biggest barriers facing Sri Lankan businesses.
That is why the SLPP Economic Revival Plan establishes a Rs. 300 billion SME Credit Guarantee Scheme, enabling entrepreneurs to access financing at just 3% interest through cooperative and non-bank financial institutions.
Supporting enterprise today creates jobs and growth tomorrow.

Public servants have faced the same inflationary pressures as every other Sri Lankan family.
The SLPP Economic Revival Plan allocates Rs. 84 billion to provide a 5% salary inflation allowance together with targeted fuel support linked to recent fuel price increases.
Supporting those who serve our nation is both fair and necessary.

Our senior citizens spent decades building this country. They deserve dignity and financial security in retirement.
The SLPP Economic Revival Plan proposes the immediate reinstatement of the 15% special interest rate for senior citizens’ savings accounts, helping protect retirement income from the impact of inflation.
A nation is judged by how it treats its elders.

Congratulations to all students on your G.C.E. O/L results.
Be proud of how far you’ve come, and remember that your future is defined not by a single examination, but by your determination to keep moving forward.
Wishing every student the confidence and determination to pursue their dreams and contribute to a stronger Sri Lanka.
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are the backbone of our economy.
Yet too many entrepreneurs are spending their time dealing with compliance costs instead of growing their businesses and creating jobs.
The SLPP Economic Revival Plan proposes increasing the VAT registration threshold to Rs. 60 million annual turnover, providing immediate relief for thousands of small businesses and allowing them to reinvest in growth.

Dengue is once again emerging as a serious threat to our people. While health authorities continue their efforts, local councils must take the lead in maintaining clean public spaces, clearing drains, managing waste, and eliminating mosquito breeding grounds.
Protecting communities is not a seasonal responsibility, it is a duty. Every local authority must act with urgency and accountability before more lives are put at risk.
Every preventable dengue case is a reminder that inaction has consequences. The time to act is now.

At a time when many Sri Lankans continue to face the pressures of a high cost of living and economic uncertainty, our responsibility is not merely to identify challenges, but to present practical solutions.
Based on the President’s statement in Parliament regarding the approximately Rs. 1 trillion currently held in the Treasury, the SLPP has prepared and submitted a set of proposals outlining how a portion of these funds could be utilized to provide immediate relief to the people.
These recommendations have been made in good faith and with one objective in mind: easing the burden on ordinary Sri Lankans while supporting economic recovery and growth.
The full proposal is attached below.

Even though certain elements of the protest movement undermined democracy, we remain committed to upholding democratic values and will support any political party or group that seeks to protect the rule of law. Namal Rajapaksha has already demonstrated this commitment in his public discourse.
During my visit to Trincomalee EHED Caritas, I met Rev. Dr. Paul Robinson and received his blessings. We also had a brief discussion on the ongoing work supporting vulnerable communities in the Eastern Province.
I’m not going to comment on the politics behind this decision.
What matters is that young artist Sangeethsan has been released and reunited with his family. I’m glad to see that happen.
I wish him all the best for the future and hope he continues to pursue his talent and aspirations in a positive and meaningful way.
What a lie ? Profits in 2025 went down compared with 2023 and 2024, the dividend share to government was increased marginally, but government pumped billions more than the dividend share into these
