See you there! 👋
Here’s a look at the elevated guideway from above near Bakerview-166 Street Station. In this video, crews can be seen preparing for rail installation, which is now underway.

@mike_rowan_van Hello, during gantry launching, strict procedures prohibit any live traffic or operating vehicles beneath it. The telehandler shown is parked and not in use. The rear support on the gantry was re‑engineered and passed additional rigorous inspections. It is not shown in the video.
Trackwork began this spring!
Here, a surveyor walks along the guideway in the Bakerview-166 Street Station area as part of early trackwork preparation.
Here at the precast concrete facility, a steel rebar cage is positioned inside a guideway segment mold.
Concrete will be poured into the mold to create the elevated guideway segment. Over 4,400 segments will be produced at this facility for the Surrey Langley SkyTrain project!
At Fleetwood Station, the station walls are beginning to take shape.
Can you spot the Fleetwood Flyer peeking above? This launching gantry is working within the station area to construct spans for the elevated guideway.
Did you know that the guideway segments are connected with steel tendons?
Once the segments are aligned, tendons are threaded through each one. Crews use a hydraulic post-tensioning jack to stress the tendons, which pulls them tightly, locking the segments together.
Here’s a view from on top of the elevated guideway at the intersection of Fraser Highway and 68 Ave.
Pieces of rail will later be installed on the guideway as part of track installation.
Did you know that the elevated guideway segments are made at our precast concrete facility in Surrey?
The facility has now produced 50% of the total segments necessary to complete the guideway!
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how the segments are produced.
All 8 stations are now under construction!
Station foundation construction is starting at Willowbrook Station, with structures taking shape at Fleetwood and Green Timbers Station. This spring, crews will begin rail installation while continuing to build the elevated guideway.
Check out this video of steel beams being lifted over Highway 15.
This is the first time steel beams have been on installed on the project. These beams will make up one span of the guideway, stretching 55 metres and weighing more than 140 metric tons each!
Can you guess which launching gantry is pictured here?
It’s the Surrey Sprinter!
In this photo from March, this launching gantry was near 148 Street. It is now west of 148 Street, moving through Green Timbers Urban Forest to build the guideway in the centre of Fraser Hwy.
Here, the Surrey Sprinter is lifting precast concrete segments to build the elevated guideway.
Can you see the blue lifting brackets? They lift the guideway segments up and hold them in place while crews complete the span.

Here’s a look at a rebar cage that is manufactured at the precast concrete facility!
The rebar cage is one of the key components of each elevated guideway segment.
For the 1st time on the project, launching gantries are passing through station sites to build the guideway!
Fleetwood Flyer is at Fleetwood Station & Langley Launcher is at Clayton Station. Each machine has now installed 400+ segments!

Here’s a shot of the Langley Launcher building the elevated guideway near 189 Street and Fraser Highway.
This launching gantry is moving east towards Langley City!
Station construction is happening at Fleetwood Station!
Crews are working on the grade slab, which will form the base of the station building. This work includes the installation of formwork, rebar, waterproofing, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Guideway construction has reached the quarter mark! 🎉
4km of the 16km guideway has been built since the 1st launching gantry began lifting segments last summer.
4 launching gantries continue to move along Fraser Hwy building the guideway.

Can you guess which launching gantry this is?
If you guessed the Clayton Clipper, that’s correct! Here’s a shot of the Clayton Clipper taken from the elevated guideway as it makes its way west toward Bakerview–166 Street Station.
