Handed in my notice as I was successful in a DHT interview. Leaving my toxic school for a fresh start and a promotion in January. It's going to be tough leaving the staff & families but it's the right thing for me as a toxic work environment is no good for anyone. #edutwitter
Our education system is broken and not because the people in school aren't giving their all. They have. They will. Our children need us but how can we give them what they need with no staff and no money?
Dreading looking at my phone tomorrow when I wake up. 13 staff out today with the HT, DHT & myself all in class. No supplies available unless pre-booked, 1:1 chn covered with supplies if we can get them. School is in chaos but we can't even consider remote learning.
Even when staff are in KS2 don't even have TAs other than high need 1:1s. Just what in these new announcements is going to help? I've never seen my school so stretched and my staff on their knees like now. 90% achievement in RWM as a target has already been mentioned by the CEO.
@MissSDoherty@Mrs_Ross80@HonestHeadteac1@chrisdysonHT@kateowbridge @SLTchat @Headfornothing1 @CeriStokes This is the same as us. We have yo-yoed between topic and separate but in the redesign went separate. We make links across subjects but all lessons are taught discretely. Big emphasis on you are doing geography and this is what geographers do and how it links to the world etc
@Mrs_Ross80@HonestHeadteac1@chrisdysonHT@SltMrs@kateowbridge @SLTchat @Headfornothing1 @CeriStokes Separate for us! Happy to make relevant links where appropriate and necessary and IMO a good curriculum is designed with that in mind, but I’m yet to see a topic/theme led curriculum that doesn’t end up shoehorning stuff in or wasting learning time 😬
@Mrs_Ross80@debi_pudsey @Elby_24 @CensoredHead We pretty much do the same but our staff have been pretty open with us in LT if they aren't vaccinated because of the difference in guidance.
Breaking my twitter holiday to ask #edutwitter for book recommendations. My nephew is going into Yr8 and he is really struggling with algebra. Any book recommendations for him and his mum (who also admits to struggling with maths)? Thanks!
End of term today and we had to shut a class due to a positive case.. Back in next week to deal with the state of my classroom before spending the holidays be refereeing between my own kids!
